Every day at Thuy Trung Tien Temple (Truc Bach Lake, Hanoi), there are hundreds of herons, storks, and herons flying, nesting, and living. These are large wild birds that have become increasingly rare recently due to human hunting and capture.
Thuy Trung Tien Temple is nestled on Truc Bach Lake, next to Thanh Nien Street and West Lake. The temple is hundreds of years old, and in the past this area was called "stork island" because many birds came here to nest.
Recently, in the temple grounds, where there are dozens of ancient banyan and fig trees, it has become a home to hundreds of large wild birds.
The birds that fly back to the campus, perch on the treetops of Thuy Trung Tien temple to make nests, mainly herons, storks, and herons... these are all large wild birds, increasingly rare due to hunting and capture.
Every day, at 5am, the birds leave their nests to find food, their main food being fish and insects floating on the surface of West Lake, Truc Bach Lake...
"There are about 300 big and small birds living on the treetops of Thuy Trung Tien temple," said the temple guard.
Looking down at the ground or on the tree trunk, wherever there is a white spot, there are birds, he added. He also said that these birds have been nesting and living here for about 7-8 years, but this is the time when there are the most, because many other species migrate to live here.
On the branches of banyan and fig trees, many nests are interwoven, becoming habitats for herons and storks. This proves that this place has fresh air and many other good conditions for them to live.
On October 31, Dan Viet reporters recorded images of dozens of birds playing and hopping from branch to branch in the grounds of Thuy Trung Tien Temple.
Because there are many tourists visiting and sightseeing at the temple, these birds are also more tame, freely preening their feathers on branches just tens of meters above the ground.
Ms. Anna (a tourist from Australia) enjoyed taking pictures in the temple grounds. She said that the natural scenery here is beautiful, especially with many species of birds, so it feels very peaceful.
"After the news reported that many species of birds were living at the temple, Thuy Trung Tien Temple welcomed more tourists. My main task is to look after the temple, clean up bird droppings every day, and make sure this area is always clean," the temple guard added.
Very beautiful images inside Thuy Trung Tien temple at noon on October 31.
Foreign tourists flock to the temple to visit and sightsee.
Many people captured the moment of birds on tree branches and the beauty of Truc Bach temple and lake.
In the midst of a crowded, noisy city, seeing flocks of gentle wild birds sometimes perching, sometimes fluttering in the air is a rare sight in Hanoi.
In the old West Lake, you can see species such as cuckoos and geese on the West Lake side. In Truc Bach Lake, from Thanh Nien Street, you can see storks, herons, and herons flying out to find food every morning and returning in the evening.
Not only that, swallows also appear in great numbers and often hover over the lake to hunt insects... creating very beautiful and peaceful images of Hanoi.
