Recently, social networks have continuously reported on the quality of meals at some schools in Hai Chau district, Da Nang.
According to anonymous posts, the food rations at some elementary schools only include a few slices of ham, very little meat, or even no meat in dishes such as stir-fried meat with vegetables or stewed vegetable soup with meat...
District leaders say boarding meals meet standards
However, according to verification results from authorities, these reflections are not true to reality.
Mr. Truong Thanh Dung - Vice Chairman of Hai Chau District People's Committee, said that recently, the locality has always proactively monitored and handled information reflected by public opinion, especially issues related to schools.
Mr. Dung affirmed that the district does not conduct inspections until there is a complaint. The authorities regularly conduct surprise inspections at schools to monitor the quality of the organization of boarding meals.
Through actual inspection, the quality of meals is still guaranteed according to the menu. The dishes are prepared hygienically, suitable for students' taste.
However, there are times when the portion distribution is not even, leading to stir-fries or soups having less meat. Or it could be that students eat their favorite food first and then take a photo, making the image not fully reflect reality.
"Parents rushing to post unverified images on social media can easily lead to misunderstandings that the school is dishonest," said Mr. Dung.
Request police to verify motive
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Dung said he would ask the police to intervene to verify the motives of the anonymous accounts reporting on the boarding meals.
"We want to know whether those reflections come from reality or from some other motive or purpose. Social networks are a useful monitoring tool, but we also need responsibility and honesty to avoid causing unnecessary confusion in the community," Mr. Dung emphasized.
The Vice Chairman of the Hai Chau District People's Committee affirmed that if there are any mistakes on the part of the school, the school must take responsibility. On the contrary, if the person reporting the information gives false information, that person must also be held responsible before the law.

"The district has many channels to receive feedback from people, including anonymous ones. All are listened to and directed to be checked and processed, regardless of whether the information is accurate or not, or what the purpose is.
From a certain perspective, such reflections also help the government and related sectors strengthen inspection and supervision. However, we should not reflect arbitrarily and without verification on social networks, causing negative public opinion," Mr. Dung added.
