According to the Quang Ngai Department of Health , as of December 15th, medical facilities in the area had received and treated more than 100 people suspected of food poisoning after eating Hong Van bread.
Initial inspection revealed that the Hong Van bread production and business facility had not presented complete legal documents and met the food safety requirements as stipulated by regulations.
Specifically, the facility has not been able to prove the origin of its raw materials; the owner and employees do not have health certificates or have received training in food safety; the products (such as sausages) have not been declared; there is no business registration certificate or food safety certificate; the production area does not adhere to the one-way flow principle and is not separated from polluting elements.
Regarding the suspected food poisoning incident after eating bread in Quang Ngai, the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) has issued Official Letter No. 2447/ATTP-NDTT concerning the investigation and handling of this suspected food poisoning case.
The Department requested the Quang Ngai Department of Health to focus resources on actively treating patients suspected of food poisoning to prevent any impact on their health and lives.
Authorities investigate and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; collect food and biological samples for testing to determine the cause; investigate and strictly handle any violations of food safety regulations (if any), and publicly disclose the results to promptly warn the community.
The Department of Health is strengthening its efforts to educate and guide food service establishments to ensure food safety conditions, strictly control the origin and source of food ingredients, maintain hygiene throughout the entire process of food preparation, processing, and transportation, conduct three-step food inspection, and retain food samples; and to educate the public on food selection as well as food processing establishments serving large gatherings.
Hong Van Bread is a well-known brand in Quang Ngai. This establishment is also a franchise brand with over 20 locations in Quang Ngai and Da Nang.
Previously, on December 13th, Phuc Hung Private General Hospital received 15 patients with symptoms including fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, high fever, and headache.
These individuals all stated that they had eaten bread at Hong Van bakery, located at various branches in Cam Thanh ward, Nghia Lo district. Doctors diagnosed them with food poisoning.
