Be proactive but don't panic about the COVID-19 pandemic

In 2024, through statistics from voluntary and proactive testing and medical facilities, the entire Quang Ninh province detected 322 cases of COVID-19. In the first 5 months of 2025, the entire province detected 26 cases concentrated in the districts and cities of Ha Long (14 cases), Mong Cai (6 cases), Cam Pha (3 cases), Dong Trieu (1 case), Van Don (1 case) and Uong Bi (1 case).

However, according to Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Health Nguyen Minh Tuan: All COVID-19 cases are mild, detected during the screening process at medical facilities. COVID-19 patients belong to the micron strain (the strain circulating in the last wave of the pandemic), the XPV 1.1.16 group is very mild, can be transmitted but does not have severe progression. Therefore, people should not be subjective, but should not be too panicked when COVID-19 cases appear.

The Quang Ninh Provincial Health Department has sent a document to localities and medical units to step up propaganda and guide people to proactively prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic. The Health Department recommends that people maintain the habit of wearing masks in public places, regularly rinsing their throats with salt water, washing their hands with soap, etc. This not only helps prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic but also helps prevent respiratory infections such as hand, foot and mouth disease, measles and especially influenza.

Currently, medical facilities have arranged many separate clinics to triage suspected cases; organize isolation (if there is an infected case) at their medical facilities. Hospitals all have isolation areas and treatment areas for infectious diseases (formerly known as infectious disease departments). However, the most important thing is to triage right from the clinic to promptly detect and transfer COVID-19 cases to separate isolation and treatment areas. After the patient returns to the separate area, it is necessary to carefully examine, classify, and evaluate each specific case to see if it has an impact or influence on the community, from which there is an appropriate treatment plan, avoiding the spread of the epidemic in medical facilities as well as the community.

Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Minh Tuan affirmed that Quang Ninh province is ready to respond to the COVID-19 epidemic without being subjective, but also without panic.

In the context that some countries in the world have recorded an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management ( Ministry of Health ) requested hospital directors to urgently implement a number of solutions such as reviewing and updating the plan for admission and treatment of COVID-19 patients of the province and medical examination and treatment facilities according to the forecast of the epidemic situation, not allowing a situation of passive and unexpected response.

Units must prepare facilities, isolation areas, medical equipment, and medical supplies to organize admission, isolation, diagnosis, treatment, and infection control; strengthen infection prevention, especially respiratory infections, to minimize the spread of disease in medical examination and treatment facilities; have solutions to ensure safety for patients in high-risk groups...
