President To Lam takes oath of office

On the morning of May 22, with 96.92% of delegates voting in favor (472/473), the National Assembly passed a resolution to elect General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security , to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

The Resolution states: Comrade To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, and deputy of the 15th National Assembly, holds the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term. This Resolution takes effect from the date of its approval by the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

At exactly 9:00 a.m., at the Dien Hong Meeting Room of the National Assembly, President To Lam performed the oath of office ceremony.

In the presence of the National Assembly, standing before the national flag, his left hand placed on the Constitution, his right hand raised high, President To Lam swore: “Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and voters nationwide, I, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: Absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, striving to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People”.

Immediately after the oath-taking ceremony, President To Lam gave an important speech before the National Assembly.
