The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion provides training in hemophilia treatment for Khanh Hoa General Hospital.

On November 14, Khanh Hoa General Hospital received a delegation from the Hemophilia Center (National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion) to work and implement a specialized training program on hemophilia treatment for the hospital's medical staff.

At the meeting, doctors from both units discussed the current situation of Hemophilia treatment in Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa in particular, the difficulties in detecting and managing patients and new advances in the treatment of Hemophilia in the world. The working group met and directly consulted a number of Hemophilia patients on basic knowledge of the disease, how to take care of themselves, protect their health, and mistakes to avoid when suffering from Hemophilia. At the same time, training on new treatment methods, metabolic disorders, skills in handling, caring for and monitoring; and surgical management of Hemophilia patients was provided to the hospital's medical staff.

Hemophilia is a genetic bleeding disorder caused by decreased or abnormal clotting factor function. The prominent feature of the disease is difficult to stop bleeding in any location on the body, most commonly bleeding in joints and muscles, which can lead to joint deformities and muscle atrophy.

In Vietnam, there are about 6,000 people with and more than 30,000 people carrying the Hemophilia gene. Of those infected, only 40% are diagnosed and treated regularly. Currently, Khanh Hoa General Hospital is managing 22 patients. With the support of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the hospital's team of doctors is updated with expertise, contributing to improving the effectiveness of treatment for patients.
