In a friendly, cordial and open atmosphere, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his belief that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet's Government, Cambodia will increasingly develop and prosper with an increasingly enhanced role and position in the region and the world .
The President affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability with Cambodia.
The two leaders agreed that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries that have always stood side by side in the cause of national liberation, national reunification, as well as in building and defending the country today. The close relationship, solidarity, cooperation and mutual assistance between the two Parties, States and peoples need to be promoted more strongly and effectively in the coming time.
The two sides expressed their delight at the extensive development of the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia in recent times with many important achievements in the fields of politics, diplomacy; security, defense; trade, investment; education-training, culture and people-to-people exchange.
The President suggested that the two sides increase delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels; effectively implement the agreements reached; promote cooperation, connect the two economies, and cooperate in human resource training.
The President also asked the Cambodian side to continue to pay attention and create the best conditions for the Vietnamese community in Cambodia to do business, live, and have legal documents resolved more conveniently.
Agreeing that the two sides need to continue to increase high-level and all-level contacts to jointly find ways to promote bilateral relations, Prime Minister Hun Manet also said that contacts and exchanges between high-level leaders of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are extremely important to propose measures to promote relations between the three countries, connect the three economies, including trade, investment, tourism - three countries, one destination as well as strengthen cooperation within ASEAN.
The two leaders said that the two countries still have much room and potential to further strengthen economic cooperation, infrastructure connectivity, transport connectivity and consider opening more international border gates.
Prime Minister Hun Manet agreed that the two sides need to increase cultural exchanges, expand tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges; and thanked Vietnam for granting scholarships to Cambodian students to study in Vietnam.
Considering security and defense cooperation as one of the pillars of the relationship, the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation and coordination to ensure stability, safety, and security of the border and prevent cross-border crimes. The two sides also expressed their determination to strive to soon complete the remaining 16% of the demarcation and marker planting work./.
