Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Thien Dinh gave a speech at the working session with Thuan An ward.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Thuan An Ward, the ward authorities have proactively reviewed and counted households that need to be relocated, paying special attention to the elderly, children, and pregnant women; assigned forces to be on duty 24/7, ready to respond when situations arise. Propaganda work is carried out continuously through the loudspeaker system and the ward's information channels to help people proactively prevent and limit risks.

Schools in the area have placed their properties on high ground, given students a day off, and arranged for security personnel to protect the facilities. The ward mobilized 2 chainsaws, 23 machetes, 1,500 sacks, 174 life jackets, 60 life buoys, and 86 generators; at the same time, prepared military , police, border, and medical forces to be ready for rescue.

Regarding logistics, the Ward People's Committee directed businesses and households to stockpile enough food, drinking water, and gasoline for 7 days; the Ward Health Station prepared enough medicine and emergency personnel. On October 29, the ward's unions and residential groups combined with volunteer groups in the ward to distribute 75 gifts (worth 200,000 VND/gift), 2,500 meals, and 20 barrels of mineral water to flooded households; on October 30, they continued to distribute 900 more meals to Dien Truong Residential Group.

Up to now, the ward has organized the evacuation of 27 households with 91 people to a safe place. However, the flood has killed 3 people, including two people swept away by water in Dien Truong residential group and a boy who slipped and fell into a drainage ditch in B5 area, Tan An residential group. The entire area of ​​crops and aquaculture was flooded; 607 houses were flooded from 0.5 to 2m deep, more than 1,000 other houses were flooded, about 200m of concrete road at Phu Thuan beach continued to be severely damaged.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Thien Dinh highly appreciated the proactive and urgent spirit of Thuan An ward in responding to and overcoming the consequences of floods, especially the mobilization of local forces to support people in recent days.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the ward authorities to continue to strengthen propaganda, warn of the risk of drowning, and check safety at construction sites, especially manholes and areas with strong currents such as Dien Truong, where many unfortunate incidents have occurred.

“Currently, floods are still complicated, so it is necessary to proactively supply food, fuel to isolated areas, and ensure power supply for people to update weather information and emergency communication,” emphasized Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Thien Dinh.

In parallel with the work of overcoming floods in the ward, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Thien Dinh also assigned relevant units to speed up the site clearance work (GPMB) for the road leading to the bridge in the southern area, the Thuan An seaport overpass project. In particular, it is necessary to speed up the progress of compensation and resettlement support, ensure timely completion, and be ready for the commencement of construction when the weather is favorable. The Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that this is a key infrastructure project, of important significance in tourism development, traffic connection and improving disaster response capacity in coastal areas.

Immediately after the working session, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Thien Dinh visited, shared and encouraged the families of victims in the flood. At each family, he kindly asked about their health and life, shared the pain and loss and sent the city's deep condolences to the relatives of the victims.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee encouraged the families to try to overcome the difficult time, soon stabilize their spirit and life; at the same time, requested the ward authorities and organizations to pay attention to supporting the funeral work, helping people to quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters, gradually return to normal life.
