Currently, many customers who need braces are victims of fake, poor quality dental clinics. Many fake clinics have advertised heavily on social media platforms, appealing to the psychology of wanting cheap prices to attract customers to get braces.
Tooth loss treatment
According to Associate Professor Tran Cao Binh, Director of the Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in Hanoi , there are currently many reputable hospitals and clinics with specialized doctors to serve the diverse needs of the people.
However, there have been cases of dental clinics hiring unqualified people, leading to incorrect prescriptions, causing harm to customers' health.
Complications that can occur when wearing braces include teeth being knocked out of the alveolar bone, tooth root resorption, gum recession, tooth sensitivity, tooth decay and pulp damage, misaligned bite, temporomandibular joint disorder, etc., which take more time to correct.
According to information from a specialized hospital, since the beginning of 2025, 335 patients have been recorded for treatment after braces were not effective at other facilities.
P., 21 years old, a male student, is a victim of these fake dental clinics. 2 years ago, P. got braces after seeing an advertisement of a clinic online, but after 2 years, P. saw that his overbite did not improve, and some of his teeth roots showed signs of popping out of the alveolar bone.
"When I contacted the clinic, the re-examination schedule was postponed," P. said. Worried, P. went to a specialized hospital and was diagnosed with a skeletal class III malocclusion, occlusal trauma due to overcompensation orthodontics due to incorrect instructions from the previous clinic and not being monitored throughout the entire process.
Currently, P. has been prescribed jaw surgery and screw removal, and must practice chewing and needs more recovery time.
Another 19-year-old female student also said that she was born with a missing upper tooth, crooked teeth and a misaligned bite. She saw an advertisement and went to a nearby orthodontic clinic. The clinic staff said it would take 1.5 years to have beautiful teeth.
However, in addition to the previously lost tooth, this clinic ordered the extraction of 4 more teeth of the patient. After 6 months of orthodontic treatment, the effectiveness of the treatment was unclear. When the scheduled follow-up visit came, the dental clinic was not at the old address and did not know where it had moved.
Examining this female student, Dr. Nguyen Minh, Tam Dentist dental system, said that the patient's second jaw segment was missing teeth because the clinic had previously extracted 4 teeth, and needed to implant 1 more tooth to ensure chewing function, in addition, braces and bite correction were needed.

Only choose reputable clinics and specialized hospitals.
According to doctors, braces and orthodontics should only be performed at reputable dental clinics with full operating licenses from the Department of Health or hospitals to ensure that specialized doctors directly examine and prescribe the correct treatment regimen.
Meanwhile, fake clinics often do not have properly trained doctors but only technicians performing braces for patients, which can easily lead to incorrect instructions, affecting the health of the person having braces.
Owners of these dental clinics often circumvent the law by signing short-term contracts with "real" dentists to open their dental clinics and then terminating the contracts.
Doctors recommend that to avoid orthodontic complications, you should pay attention to the following points:
Only get braces done at reputable dental clinics that are fully licensed by the local health department. This information is clearly displayed on the clinic sign.
When patients come to the dentist, they will be examined directly by the doctor and prescribed a treatment plan. During the entire treatment process, the doctor must directly monitor closely to ensure that the orthodontic process is carried out according to the original plan, not each time a different person visits.
Fake clinics often advertise braces at extremely low prices such as 8 million/2 jaws to attract customers, but the price of orthodontics at reputable clinics can be higher.
When there are concerns or problems arising during the braces process, the dental clinic must answer and take care of them promptly. If the dental clinic is evasive, blames, avoids or delays the follow-up appointment, it is a sign of a fake clinic and everyone needs to be vigilant to avoid losing money and getting sick.
