Preparing to summarize and award the contest to study Uncle Ho and Uncle Ton

Launched widely since May 2024, the contest has become an important cultural, artistic and political activity of the Party Committee, government, army and people of the province. Above all, the contest contributes to making studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Uncle Ho and Uncle Ton a regular and continuous task of each level, sector and the masses. Each good model, new way of doing things, typical collectives and individuals reflected in literary, artistic and journalistic works will help raise awareness, create diffusion, encourage and motivate the whole province to successfully carry out political tasks.

By the deadline for submission (March 15, 2025), the contest received more than 1,100 entries from many units, localities, and press agencies inside and outside the province. Thereby, nearly 400 entries were selected for the final round, in 8 categories (reflective articles, good people, good deeds, radio reports, television reports, radio stories, literary memoirs, photography, folk songs). As in previous seasons, the printed and electronic newspapers accounted for the highest number of entries (more than 950 entries). Contestants were diverse in the professional group (journalists inside and outside the province, district-level radio stations, members of the Literature and Arts Association). In the movement group, the majority were teachers, commune and district-level management officials; military and police officers and soldiers; party members, junior high and high school students, etc. participated. The author writes about familiar, simple examples around him, in his unit, creating a very vivid, familiar picture in the village, hamlet, and school.

The contest is a key activity in response to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), the 137th anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang's birthday (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2025), expected to be summarized and awarded on May 19 or June 21, at Studio 4, An Giang Radio and Television Station (live broadcast). “The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with units to stage and perform art performances for the Closing and Award Ceremony; and be responsible for licensing publications serving the contest’s closing ceremony. In addition, we will increase propaganda, visual encouragement, and promote the contest results and excellent works to the public,” informed Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Khanh Hiep.

It is expected that next week, the Organizing Committee members will present video clips, programs, and detailed scripts for the ceremony; by mid-May, complete publications (books, links, QR codes of winning works), photo exhibitions, books, etc. All preparations must ensure progress and quality, as a basis for submission to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for comments. Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Tran Thi Thanh Huong (Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest) emphasized: “Thank you to the members of the Organizing Committee, the Jury, and the Secretariat for upholding the sense of responsibility and making efforts to complete the tasks during the busy period. To successfully and impressively organize the summary and award ceremony, we request each member to continue to complete the summary report and the results of the contest; develop a detailed script for the award ceremony in a creative, innovative, and appropriate manner; publish a book summarizing the winning works; video clips, and reports related to the contest”.

The Jury selected and proposed 88 excellent works for awards (including 9 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 19 C prizes, 50 consolation prizes). In addition, 5 units and localities were proposed to be rewarded for their achievements in promoting the contest.
