The national finals of the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest were held in Viet Tri.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Decision No. 650/QD-BVHTTDL on organizing the National Finals of the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has assigned the Library Department to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize the National Finals of the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Competition.

The competition aims to ignite passion and promote reading among young people, encourage the sharing and spreading of a love of reading, contribute to the development of reading culture in schools and communities, and build a learning society in Vietnam.

Through its activities, the competition affirms the position and role of Vietnamese culture, especially reading culture, in contributing to the dissemination of knowledge, raising the intellectual level of the people, fostering creativity, nurturing character and soul, forming a healthy lifestyle, and arousing patriotic traditions, national pride, and aspirations for a prosperous and happy country for the younger generation.

According to the plan, the competition launch ceremony will take place in April 2024 in Hanoi ; the closing ceremony and national final awards presentation will take place in October 2024 in Viet Tri City, Phu Tho province, in a hybrid format combining in-person and online (livestream) broadcast on the Vietnamese Book and Intelligence Channel (a channel managed by the Library Department).

Launched in 2019, the Reading Culture Ambassador competition, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Library Department, has created a reading movement and spread a reading culture widely in the community, especially among students nationwide.

Over the past four years, the competition has attracted hundreds of thousands of students, with thousands of entries submitted, featuring rich, diverse, creative content and unique styles. Each year, the organizing committee selects and awards prizes to approximately 200 to 300 authors with outstanding entries that promote reading culture, across both high school and university student age groups. The Reading Culture Ambassador competition has become an annual event attracting widespread participation from students nationwide.
