According to Mr. Vu Duy Nghia, Chairman of Song Cong City People's Committee: Right from its establishment, the city has been identified as an industrial urban area of the province. Therefore, along with promoting administrative reform, doing a good job of site clearance for project implementation, the locality also organized many dialogue conferences with businesses. Thereby promptly removing difficulties and obstacles arising, creating all favorable conditions for businesses to learn, research and implement investment projects to develop production and business in the area.

In the industrial development orientation, Song Cong City focuses on attracting investment in high-tech industries. The supporting industry has been initially formed and developed in the area, creating production links between domestic enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises.

Thanks to promoting investment attraction, up to now, the city has 2 concentrated industrial parks and 5 industrial clusters (of which 4 industrial clusters have infrastructure investors); more than 500 enterprises operating in various fields.

Mr. Hoang Van Minh, Chairman of the Song Cong City Business Association, said: In recent times, the state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises have grown quite well; private enterprises are recovering positively and growing; a number of factories with large investment capital have completed construction and started production. Thanks to that, the industrial production value in the city has been maintained stably and has a fairly high growth rate.

By the end of July 2023, the industrial production value in Song Cong City is estimated to reach over VND 5,600 billion, an increase of 2.9% over the same period in 2022. Of which, the value of local industrial and handicraft production is estimated to reach VND 3,197 billion, an increase of 19.4%.

Along with industry, trade and service activities in Song Cong City have developed strongly in recent years. Currently, the city has 8 markets, with nearly 1,200 business households; 2 supermarkets; about 4,000 retail establishments and agents; 40 transportation establishments; over 50 hotels, restaurants, etc.

In the development roadmap of trade and services, Song Cong City has planned to arrange and upgrade traditional markets; built and put into operation service complexes and commercial centers such as: Service complexes of groups 7 and 8, Mo Che ward; upgraded and expanded the City Trade Center; attracted investment in building Song Cong Shophouse Trade Center, Pho Co Trade Center... These are large trade centers, expected to promote the socio-economic development of the locality.

In addition, Song Cong City continues to invest in upgrading and expanding banking credit, post and telecommunications, transportation, electricity, water, and insurance services. At the same time, it focuses on exploiting the advantages of the landscape of Ghenh Che Lake, both banks of Cong River, historical sites, and traditional tea villages to develop eco -tourism associated with experiential tourism.

Mr. Le Van Hiep, Director of Ghenh Che Community Tourism Cooperative, shared: After Ghenh Che Lake was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a community tourism destination in July 2023, the Cooperative immediately started to renovate and invest in facilities to meet the diverse needs of tourists. Up to now, the unit has built 4 establishments for food and accommodation; there are 7 waterway vehicles that are qualified to operate. Every year, the Cooperative welcomes over 15,000 tourists from inside and outside the province to visit and experience Ghenh Che Lake.

With the right orientation and appropriate solutions, the urban appearance of Song Cong City is increasingly prosperous, and people's lives are improving. If in 2021, the proportion of industry - construction in the city accounted for 59.8%; trade - services accounted for 30.8%; agriculture - forestry and fishery accounted for 9.3%, then up to now the proportions of the sectors are 75.4%, 17.4% and 7.2% respectively.

This change also contributes to the shift of labor structure from agriculture to non-agriculture. The above results have contributed to improving the quality of growth and consolidating the potential for socio-economic development, so that Song Cong City can complete the goal of upgrading to become a type II urban area in the near future.
