The inevitable direction of the times
Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Cong Thanh emphasized: In the context of the world facing climate change, environmental pollution and resource depletion, choosing a green development path and shifting to clean energy is not only an inevitable trend but also a common responsibility of each country.
According to the Deputy Minister, Vietnam has been demonstrating a strong commitment to responding to climate change and energy transition through a series of important policies such as the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, Strategy, Planning, Plan for protection and management of national environmental quality until 2030, vision to 2050; National Strategy on Climate Change towards the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, national action plans on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the ozone layer and adapting to climate change. This is a solid foundation for Vietnam to develop a green economy, a circular economy, a low-carbon economy, towards the goal of "a green, clean, livable Vietnam".

"Developing green energy not only contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring energy security, but also opens up a sustainable direction for large cities, economic, cultural and social centers such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hai Phong," Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh affirmed.
The theme of this year’s Forum “Green Energy - Clean City” has a particularly practical significance in the period when Vietnam is promoting the energy transition. According to experts, this is not just a technical or technological issue, but a strategic orientation associated with the country’s sustainable development model.
Developing green energy is considered the key to help Vietnam achieve the Net Zero target, ensure energy security and improve the quality of life of urban residents. The use of clean energy, environmentally friendly fuels, along with the development of green transport and green buildings is becoming an inevitable trend.
In large cities, controlling emissions from traffic, developing renewable energy infrastructure, and integrating environmental standards in urban planning are three important pillars to realize the goal of a "clean city".
Spread the spirit of action for a green future
At the Forum, Editor-in-Chief of Agriculture and Environment Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Thach said that the Forum was organized to create a space for exchange, sharing and connection between relevant parties - from management agencies, scientists, businesses to the community to join hands in building green, clean, smart cities that are better able to adapt to the challenges of climate change.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thach, when every city, every business and every citizen acts together for green energy, "Clean City" will no longer be a slogan but will become a vivid reality in every street, every roof, every rhythm of life.
"The message of today's Forum is a call to action, so that every step, every policy and every investment is aimed at the common goal of creating a green future for Vietnam," he emphasized.
At the Forum, delegates discussed many practical topics such as: developing a clean energy ecosystem, focusing on solar, wind, biomass and waste-to-energy; encouraging the use of standard fuels, gradually reducing fossil fuels; applying green technology in transportation, construction and urban management; proposing mechanisms and policies to promote green energy conversion and support businesses in investing in technological innovation.

Experts also emphasized the importance of connecting the state - businesses - scientists - media, considering these as four pillars in the green energy transition process. At the same time, it is necessary to encourage the community to participate in this process through sustainable consumption models, energy saving and emission reduction in daily life.
The “Green Energy - Clean City” Forum is the first step for a series of specific actions, towards the goal of sustainable development, green growth and net zero emissions by 2050.
Delegates agreed to commit to specific actions. The State plays an important role in perfecting policies, emission standards and mechanisms to encourage investment in clean energy. Enterprises enhance technological innovation, improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions in production. Organizations and associations act as a bridge between policies, enterprises and the community; promote communication, raise social awareness, and arouse the spirit of action for a green future.
