General Secretary To Lam's visit to Indonesia, the ASEAN Secretariat and Singapore strengthens ASEAN's solidarity and central role

Answering reporters' questions about the significance of upgrading relations with Singapore and Indonesia and Vietnam's role in ASEAN, at a press conference on the afternoon of March 20, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs' assessment of the visit.

Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that the Vietnamese press has published the full interview of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on the results of this visit and assessed the visit as extremely successful. The visit has contributed to strengthening solidarity and the central role of ASEAN in the regional structure.

Political opinion in Indonesia and Singapore, at the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as in the region and international public opinion, including foreign press opinion, highly appreciated the success of the visit.

Indonesia and Singapore, as founding countries of ASEAN and the most developed economies in the bloc, and Indonesia itself being a member of the G20, are both important partners in efforts to maintain ASEAN's cohesion in the face of external challenges.

The visit is also an opportunity for Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore to share and exchange experiences in national development.

In Vietnam's overall foreign policy, the visit once again contributed to implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralization, and making friends with all countries and giving priority to neighboring countries and ASEAN countries to implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress.
