CAHN Club reunites with Buriram in the final

On the evening of May 7, the remaining second leg of the semi-final within the framework of the Southeast Asian Cup 1 took place, thereby finding the opponent of Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) in the Southeast Asian Cup 1 final.

Buriram United have a big advantage with a 3-1 win over BG Pathum in the first leg at Chang Arena. If they lose by less than 2 goals in the rematch, Buriram will reach the final.

The reigning Thai League champions showed their strength in the second leg. Despite having to play at Pathum Stadium, with superior strength and a cohesive, tight playing style, Buriram overcame their compatriots.

In the first half, the two teams drew goalless. However, Buriram dominated with 61% possession, 7 shots (2 on target), while Pathum only had 2 shots (not on target) and controlled the ball 39% of the time.

In the second half, Pathum put pressure on Buriram in the hope of turning the tables, but Buriram still defended firmly. Coach Osmar Loss and his team controlled the situation even though they no longer had the ball as much as in the first half. With great players like Theerathon Bunmathan, Supachai Jaided, Pansa Hemviboon or foreign player Guilherme Bissoli (scored 25 goals, assisted 7 goals after 30 matches in the Thai League this season), Buriram did not give Pathum a chance to create a surprise.

In the end, the two teams drew 0-0. Buriram entered the final with a total score of 3-1 after 2 matches.

Thus, the final match of the Southeast Asian Cup C1 is a fierce battle between CAHN Club and Buriram United Club.

CAHN Club plays the first leg of the final at home

While CAHN FC is the former V-League champion (champion in 2023), Buriram is the current Thai League champion. Both teams entered the tournament as national championship champions.

In the opening match of the group stage, CAHN Club faced Buriram at Hang Day Stadium. Under the pouring rain, coach Alexandre Polking's players defeated their opponents with a score of 2-1. However, that was when Buriram did not field their strongest squad, due to having to divide their strength between the AFC Champions League Elite and Thai League.

Now that the AFC Champions League Elite has ended, Buriram can focus on the Southeast Asian Cup 1. That will prompt the Thai representative to field the optimal lineup.

CAHN FC will face Buriram in the first leg of the final, taking place on May 14 at Hang Day Stadium. The second leg will take place at Buriram’s Chang Arena on May 21.
