Ms. Lang Thi Huong’s family in Tan Long hamlet currently has more than 3,600m2 of Long Van and LDP1 tea. Previously, she produced and processed tea based on experience, so the quality was not high. After participating in training courses organized by the commune and proactively learning from experienced people, her family’s tea products were known and ordered by many customers.
Every year, Ms. Lang Thi Huong's family (in Tan Long hamlet, Co Lung commune) sells about 4 tons of dried tea buds to the market, earning 350 million VND after deducting expenses. |
Ms. Huong shared: In addition to my family's harvest, I also buy fresh tea buds from many households in the area to process, with the two main types being hook and shrimp buds with prices ranging from 150-500 thousand VND/kg; in addition, there is also tea nails (not much quantity), priced from 1.5-2 million VND/kg. On average, each year, I sell about 4 tons of dried tea buds to the market, earning about 350 million VND after deducting expenses.
According to statistics, in 2024, the value of products per hectare of cultivated land in Co Lung commune will reach 120 million VND (an increase of 10 million VND/ha compared to 2022). In addition to the main crops of rice and tea, people in Co Lung commune also take advantage of about 10 hectares of pond water surface to raise aquatic products such as fish fry, snails, etc., contributing to increasing family income.
Along with agricultural production, Co Lung commune also focuses on developing trade and services. Currently, the commune has more than 80 businesses along National Highways 3 and 37, of which the most typical is Bo Dau Chung Cake Village.
To help households in the craft village have more favorable conditions for production, the locality has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade to review and support 20 households in the craft village with 25 boilers, 21 freezers... worth 500 million VND. With the effectiveness such as reducing labor in production, not causing environmental pollution, many households in the craft village have boldly borrowed money from banks to invest in this equipment.
Products of Bo Dau Banh Chung Village have been recognized as 3-star OCOP. On average, each year, households earn about 20 billion VND in revenue, increasing the proportion of the Trade - Service sector of Co Lung commune to 40%, while agriculture has decreased to 60%.
To help households have more conditions to expand production, Co Lung commune has coordinated with socio -political organizations to receive entrustment and guide households to borrow capital. Up to now, the total outstanding debt at the Social Policy Bank and the District Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has reached 151 billion VND, with nearly 1,160 households in the commune borrowing capital.
Thanks to appropriate solutions in economic development, the average income per capita of Co Lung commune reached 65.1 million VND (in 2024); the poverty rate decreased to 0.33%.
