Trying to cross the overflow when the flood rose rapidly, the container truck was swept away, the driver is missing.

On the afternoon of November 17, the People's Committee of La Lay commune, Quang Tri province, said that authorities and local people were urgently searching for the driver of a container truck that was swept away by floodwaters while trying to cross a culvert during a time when the water level was rising rapidly.

According to initial information, at around 12 noon on the same day, a container truck (license plate and driver's identity unknown) was traveling from the direction of La Lay International Border Gate to National Highway 9. Although the A Rong Tren spillway area (La Lay intersection) had been barricaded by the on-duty checkpoint force due to strong water flow, the driver still arbitrarily opened the barricades to let the truck pass, at a time when the checkpoint officers were having lunch nearby.

When the car reached the middle of the tunnel, the floodwaters from upstream suddenly poured down strongly, sweeping the front of the car down the cliff. The driver immediately climbed onto the side of the car to wait for rescue. Local forces organized to approach, but only a few minutes later, the strong water continued to hit the car, causing it to flip over and be swept away. The driver is missing and has not been found.

Currently, floods in this area continue to rise rapidly, making search and rescue of missing people very difficult.
