Trying to cross the overflow when the flood water rose, the container truck and driver were swept away.

QTO - On the afternoon of November 17, information from the People's Committee of La Lay commune, Quang Tri province said that the locality is coordinating with functional forces to search for a driver and a container truck that was swept away by floodwaters while trying to cross a culvert.

Previously, at around 12 noon the same day, a container truck with an unknown license plate and driver's identity was traveling on National Highway 15D from La Lay International Border Gate to National Highway 9, passing through the A Rong Tren village culvert, when it was swept away by floodwaters.

At that time, in the La Lay commune area, there was heavy rain causing the water level to rise through this culvert, forcing the authorities to set up checkpoints to prevent people and vehicles from passing. However, while the guard at the checkpoint was having lunch, the driver arbitrarily opened the barrier to cross the culvert.

Due to the flood water flowing through the tunnel, it was more than 1 meter deep, the water flowed so fast that the container truck's front end tilted halfway across the road and could not move. At this time, the driver climbed into the cabin to wait for rescue, but the flood water rushed in so strongly that both the truck and the driver were swept away.

Currently, heavy rain continues, making the search for victims and vehicles difficult.
