What benefits do parents get when their children do military service? Are they entitled to health insurance? What support do they receive when they are sick?

According to Article 6 of the Law on Military Service 2015 on the obligation to serve in the army, male citizens of military service age are obliged to serve in the army. For female citizens of military service age, in peacetime, if they volunteer and the army has a need, they can serve in the army.
So, if the child joins the military, what benefits will the parents enjoy? Will they be able to participate in free health insurance and what other benefits?
If children do military service, can parents get health insurance?
According to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, parents of non-commissioned officers and soldiers on active duty are eligible to participate in health insurance paid for by the state budget, which means they are issued free health insurance cards.
This is clearly stipulated by the Ministry of National Defense at Point c, Clause 2, Article 1 of Circular No. 143/TT-BQP dated December 8, 2020, guiding the implementation of a number of articles of Decree No. 146/ND-CP dated October 17, 2018 of the Government detailing and guiding measures to implement a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance for subjects under the management of the Ministry of National Defense.
Those who are entitled to this benefit include: relatives of officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers - soldiers on active duty, including relatives of non-commissioned officers - soldiers preparing to be discharged from the army with a decision to send them to reserve officer training who are eligible to participate in health insurance at the Ministry of National Defense.
This is also stipulated in Article 12 of the 2014 Law on Health Insurance, which stipulates that health insurance participants include 6 groups, of which relatives of non-commissioned officers and soldiers on active duty belong to group 3 - the group paid for by the state budget.
In addition, parents of active military personnel will also enjoy a number of other benefits such as housing support in case of natural disasters, fires, and sick allowances.
This has been specified in detail in Article 6 of Decree 27/2016/ND-CP and Article 3 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP of the Government.
Specifically, parents with children in the military will receive housing support in the event of natural disasters or fires that cause house collapses, house drifts, house fires, or relocation, or property damage, or severe economic losses. They will receive a subsidy of 3 million VND/person/time.
In particular, parents of non-commissioned officers and soldiers on active duty who are sick for 1 month or more or are treated at a hospital for 7 days or more are entitled to a sickness allowance of 500,000 VND/person/time.
In addition, relatives of non-commissioned officers and soldiers who are sacrificed, deceased or missing will receive a subsidy of 2 million VND/person.
Pursuant to the Law on Military Service dated June 19, 2015, Decision No. 102/QD-TTg dated September 20, 2024 of the Prime Minister on calling citizens to join the army in 2025, Instruction No. 4705/HD-BQP dated October 31, 2024 of the Ministry of National Defense on selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2025, from February 13 to February 15, young people nationwide will leave for military service in 2025.
