Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, said that in recent years, Southeast Asia has emerged as one of the most dynamic regions in the world in terms of cross-border e-commerce and supply chain development.

According to statistics, by 2024, the total value of e-commerce transactions in Southeast Asia has exceeded 100 billion USD; of which, Vietnam's e-commerce retail revenue reached 25 billion USD. Notably, Vietnam is ranked as the country with the highest e-commerce growth rate in the region, in the top 10 countries with the fastest growth rate in the world and ranked 3rd in market size (after Indonesia and Thailand) with over 60 million people participating in online shopping.

However, one of the biggest obstacles for consumers when shopping online is the fear of product quality not being as advertised. In addition, buyers are afraid of receiving poor quality, fake, counterfeit goods, or goods that do not match the images and descriptions online. This reality shows that there is a need for more consistent and appropriate solutions to build a transparent, safe business environment, protect the interests of consumers and reputable businesses in the market.

Sharing about the orientation for 2025, Ms. Lai Viet Anh emphasized that Online Friday 2025 will focus on building a comprehensive connected ecosystem with the theme of "Safety - Peace of mind - Happiness". This year's theme clearly demonstrates the Government 's orientation in promoting e-commerce to become a modern, transparent, trustworthy shopping channel with a rich positive experience.

At the same time, Online Friday not only aims to create a common playground to strengthen trust, protect consumer rights, help them feel secure about product quality and online transactions, but also brings convenience, joy and excitement throughout the digital shopping journey. At the same time, the program also aims to strengthen the connection and sustainable companionship between the business community and consumers.

Specifically, the 2025 program will focus on the following main contents: Enhancing e-commerce and digital technology experiences through organizing the largest online shopping program in Vietnam and a technology experience space; building consumer trust by providing practical incentives, promoting electronic payments, and strengthening the prevention of counterfeit and fake goods. In addition, supporting businesses in digital transformation, improving technology application capacity, promoting local products; promoting, identifying, and consuming genuine products, and supporting local businesses in online exports, contributing to overall economic development.

“The Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy will always accompany all businesses across the country to continue to have the opportunity to promote the consumption of goods, contributing to the development of production and business, and consumers can easily choose goods at good prices, suitable to their needs,” Ms. Lai Viet Anh emphasized.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development - eComDX (Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam Online Shopping Day - Online Friday 2025 is designed with a series of key activities to strengthen market confidence and enhance brand value in the digital space. The slogan "Shopping is fun, shopping is fun" aims to convey a youthful, friendly spirit, encouraging consumers, especially young people, to enjoy online shopping as an exciting digital cultural experience, instead of just a normal shopping behavior.

After more than a decade of development, Online Friday 2025 not only continues to affirm its position as a key national e-commerce event, demonstrating the strong commitment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Government in promoting e-commerce development in a modern, transparent and trustworthy direction, but also aims to become a symbol of connection, creativity and spreading the joy of safe and positive shopping in the digital age. The program is expected to bring online shopping closer to millions of Vietnamese people, contributing to promoting digital consumption and improving customer experience.
