Not only a space for resistance, Tinh Khe water coconut forest is also the place where the "Hue Duong Vien" stele is preserved - associated with the famous mandarin Truong Dang Que (1793 - 1865), an official who held great responsibilities under the reigns of four kings Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri and Tu Duc.

When the great mandarin Truong Dang Que retired and returned to this land, King Tu Duc gave him gardens and houses to rest.

A community tourism address

After the war, the coconut forest was as peaceful as it had been in the beginning. Previously, people mainly made a living by fishing, catching shrimp, catching crabs and snails, or picking coconut leaves to weave into mats for sale.

As tourism develops, they have taken advantage of the potential of the mangrove forests to develop a community tourism model.

Mr. Pham Van Hien (63 years old) in Truong Dinh village, Tinh Khe commune - a "barefoot tour guide" shared: "My family has 4 sao of water coconut, shrimp and fish keep growing so my family and many people here do not worry about food shortage, we can also pick coconut leaves to weave into sheets to sell.

Since the local government's policy of developing community tourism associated with agricultural development, villagers have been very excited because they have an additional source of income, thanks to which their lives have also improved.

Summer is the ideal time for visitors to come to Tinh Khe water coconut forest. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the cool air under the rustling green coconut trees reflecting on the clear river.

Locals row boats to take tourists along the coconut trees to follow history and feel the beauty of the peaceful green space.

Visitors can also experience rowing a boat, fishing with a net... Sitting on a boat drifting down the river, under the coconut leaves, visitors feel like they are lost in the middle of a charming river region.

For photography enthusiasts, this is the ideal place.

Tourists can capture poetic and lyrical images of the coconut forest, capture moments of casting nets, pulling nets, harvesting coconut leaves... of Tinh Khe people.

Photographer Doan Vuong Quoc (Di Lang town, Son Ha district, Quang Ngai province) shared: “When I came to Tinh Khe coconut forest, I felt like I was lost in the Southwest region right in the heart of Quang Ngai city. This is a place that can be used to develop tourism, and is also a suitable check-in location for young people.”

From Tinh Khe coconut forest, tourists can conveniently visit other places such as My Khe beach, Thien An pagoda, Son My relic site, Truong Dinh temple, Co Luy bridge and especially Minh Duc pagoda - the pagoda located on Thien Ma mountain, with a 150m high statue of Quan Am, which is becoming a new highlight of Quang Ngai tourism.

With these strengths, the number of tourists visiting Tinh Khe coconut forest increases every day, with some days having over 200 visitors.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Director of My Khe Agricultural and Community Tourism Cooperative, said: “The cooperative has trained people in tourism and helped them restore some traditional occupations from raw materials taken from coconut trees, sedge plants and aquatic resources.

The cooperative has designed 10 homestays in the coconut forest area as accommodation for tourists, and built internal roads leading into the coconut forest for visitors to walk.

Developing tourism here aims to contribute to enhancing the value of the coconut forest as well as helping people to be aware of the management, conservation, restoration and development of the coconut forest, while promoting its historical and cultural value in social life.
