On June 16, the Save Vietnam Wildlife Center (SVW) in collaboration with Cuc Phuong National Park (Ninh Binh) and Hoa Binh Provincial Police successfully rescued a rare golden pangolin from illegal trafficking.

Previously, the above mentioned golden pangolin was transported by Bui Van A by motorbike from Yen Tri commune to Hang Tram town, Yen Thuy district, Hoa Binh province, and was arrested by Hoa Binh provincial police.
After the confiscation of the evidence, this golden pangolin was taken to the Vietnam Wildlife Conservation Center in Ninh Binh for care.
This is a male yellow pangolin, weighing about 6kg, in a stressed state, no serious injuries detected.
Mr. Tran Van Truong - Rescue Coordinator of the Wildlife Conservation Center in Vietnam said: "The yellow pangolin is a rare animal, currently the number of individuals in the wild is very small; however, some people still arbitrarily hunt pangolins to sell for profit, this is an illegal act".
