The whole country joins hands for the poor
The "Month of Action for the Poor" is an annual activity with profound humanitarian significance, organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front to mobilize social resources to care for poor households, near-poor households, and those with particularly difficult circumstances. In 2025, the program will be implemented nationwide, linked to the "Nationwide Solidarity for the Poor" movement and activities supporting the construction of schools in border and island areas.
The key activities of the peak month include: Mobilizing contributions to the "For the Poor" Fund; Supporting the construction and repair of "Great Solidarity" houses; Providing livelihoods such as livestock, seedlings, and production tools; Granting scholarships and learning equipment to poor students; and Providing free medical examinations and treatment for vulnerable people.
At the nationwide launch ceremony, a representative of the Vietnam Fatherland Front emphasized: "This peak month is not only an opportunity for donations, but also a reminder of the social responsibility and the spirit of mutual support among Vietnamese people."
According to summaries from local Fatherland Front organizations, by the end of October 2025, the "For the Poor" Fund nationwide had raised over 4,000 billion VND. Thanks to this, nearly 2,000 "Great Solidarity" houses have been newly built or renovated, and hundreds of thousands of poor households have received livelihood support, healthcare , and education. These figures clearly demonstrate the solidarity of the entire society in the sustainable poverty reduction effort.
In response to the peak month of support, all localities have implemented practical programs to effectively assist the poor. In Hanoi , the "Joining Hands for the Poor and Social Welfare" program attracted the participation of hundreds of businesses, agencies, and organizations. The event raised over 60 billion VND for the city's "For the Poor" Fund, and also provided funding for house construction and livelihood support to many poor and near-poor households.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Quang Nam, and many other localities, innovative support models have been implemented simultaneously. Activities such as supporting livestock farming, expanding organic fruit tree cultivation models, creating jobs for vulnerable people, and organizing mobile medical examinations and providing health insurance cards for the needy have yielded clear results.
In mountainous provinces such as Dien Bien, Son La, and Cao Bang, the Fatherland Front at all levels focuses on supporting the construction of housing and clean water facilities, helping ethnic minorities in highland areas improve their living and production conditions. These models not only address urgent needs but also create a foundation for sustainable development in disadvantaged areas.
Diverse activities to support the poor
A highlight of this year's "For the Poor" campaign month is that many localities are not only providing material support but also focusing on vocational training, technical guidance, and connecting poor households with markets for their products. This is a new approach that helps people acquire more skills, create their own jobs, and gradually escape poverty sustainably instead of relying on short-term assistance.
In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front requires all levels to strengthen supervision of the allocation and use of funds, ensuring transparency and openness. The list of poor households receiving support is posted locally and published on the Fatherland Front's information portal at all levels. This transparency has strengthened the trust of the people and businesses in contributing to the program.
In practice, each "Great Solidarity" house built and each livelihood model established serves as concrete evidence of the effectiveness of collective effort. Many poor households, after receiving capital and livestock support, have risen out of poverty and become exemplary models in the community. Many families, from being in need of assistance, have become helpers themselves, continuing to spread the spirit of compassion.
The "For the Poor" campaign month is not only a short-term fundraising activity but also contributes to spreading the spirit of solidarity and compassion, the foundation of a sustainable developed society. When the spirit of sharing is nurtured regularly, and when every citizen understands that "helping others is also helping oneself," the fight against poverty will truly go deeper.
The results of the Action Month are not only impressive numbers of supporters but also reflect the belief and spread of compassion within the community. This forms a solid foundation for Vietnam to move towards the goal of inclusive development, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The 2025 "For the Poor" campaign month once again affirms that when the whole society joins hands, no difficulty is insurmountable. And most importantly, the spirit of solidarity and sharing remains a core value and a driving force for the country's sustainable development.
