On October 26, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City announced that it had issued an official dispatch to the People's Committees of wards and communes, along with all schools, vocational training centers and private universities in the area regarding proactive response to bad weather.
According to forecasts, Da Nang City will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, with a high risk of flooding and landslides. In this situation, the Department of Education and Training specifically requests heads of units and schools to seriously implement instructions on natural disaster and flood prevention, and promptly develop plans to ensure the safety of all staff, teachers, students and property of the unit.

Heavy rain causes serious landslides in many places in the highlands of Da Nang.

Notably, the Department of Education and Training gives direct decision-making power to the chairmen of the People's Committees of wards and communes and heads of schools and centers under the department.
Specifically, these units (especially in mountainous and border areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, or low-lying areas prone to flooding) are required to regularly monitor the actual situation to decide whether preschool children, students, and trainees in the area and at the school are allowed to take time off from school when necessary.
This decision will then be informed to the leaders of the Department of Education and Training for synthesis and reporting to the People's Committee of Da Nang City.
For vocational training institutions, universities and private colleges, these units will proactively decide on students' attendance based on the situation.
The Department of Education and Training also emphasized the principle of ensuring maximum safety in all situations. When students and preschool children are still at school, the school must assign teachers and staff to manage and take care of them to ensure safety.
In particular, boarding and semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities must strengthen management and student care, and absolutely not let students leave when safety conditions are not guaranteed.
In addition, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City also requested schools to develop flexible teaching and learning plans when students cannot go to school due to landslides or floods, to ensure that learning is not interrupted.
Once the weather stabilizes, schools need to urgently organize cleaning and sanitizing classrooms so that students can soon return to normal learning.
