Ta Trach Reservoir is participating in flood control for the downstream area.

On the morning of October 27th, the Civil Defense Command issued an urgent notice stating that the inflow into the reservoirs is currently very high: Ta Trach reservoir at 6,728 m3/s; Binh Dien reservoir at 3,821 m3/s; and Huong Dien reservoir at 2,631 m3/s. The reservoirs are increasing their flow to regulate downstream water levels. The water levels of the Huong and Bo rivers are rising. It is expected that by approximately 10:00 AM on October 27th, the water levels of the Huong and Bo rivers will continue to rise above Warning Level 3 (Warning Level 3 on the Huong River is 3.5m; Warning Level 3 on the Bo River is 4.5m). There is a risk of widespread urban flooding and landslides in many areas.

The irrigation and hydropower reservoirs in the city are operating safely and effectively, fulfilling their flood control functions, especially the Ta Trach reservoir. Accordingly, the water level of the Huong Dien hydropower reservoir reached +57.01m with an inflow of 3,795 m³/s and an outflow of 1,799 m³/s (normal water level +58m); the Binh Dien hydropower reservoir reached +82.24m with an inflow of 4,154 m³/s and an outflow of 2,655 m³/s (normal water level +85m); and the Ta Trach reservoir reached +42.18m with an inflow of 6,921 m³/s and an outflow of 423 m³/s (normal water level +45m). The irrigation reservoirs are operating at 84% capacity, equivalent to 94.7/113 million m³.

According to the provincial meteorological and hydrological station, from the night of October 25th to the morning of October 27th, Hue City experienced heavy rain, with some areas receiving very heavy rain. The total rainfall from 1 PM on October 25th to 4 AM on October 27th was generally 250-450mm. Forecasts indicate that due to the influence of a strengthening cold front combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, from early morning on October 27th to early morning on October 29th, Hue City will experience heavy to very heavy rain, with some mountainous areas experiencing exceptionally heavy rain. The total rainfall is expected to be 250-500mm, with some areas exceeding 700mm.
