Traffic on D'ran Pass in Da Lat has resumed after being blocked for 1.5 months due to landslides caused by heavy rain and flooding.

On December 11th, the Lam Dong Department of Construction announced that people and vehicles were allowed to resume traffic through D'ran Pass, one of the gateways from Khanh Hoa province to Da Lat city, from 9:00 AM on the same day.

Earlier on October 30, Lam Dong province had to announce the closure of this pass due to serious landslides caused by heavy rain, and simultaneously declared a state of emergency for this section of National Highway 20.

Accordingly, from 9:00 AM on December 11th, people and vehicles with a payload of less than 5 tons and passenger vehicles with fewer than 16 seats are allowed to travel through D'ran Pass without time restrictions. The Department of Construction also announced that vehicles with a payload of more than 5 tons and passenger vehicles with more than 16 seats traveling from the former Lam Dong province to the former Ninh Thuan province and vice versa should proactively choose to travel along National Highway 27 and Provincial Road DT.729 as appropriate.

Due to the complex weather conditions and storms in the province, and because construction units are still repairing and rectifying damage on the aforementioned section of the road, the authorities in Lam Dong province advise people and vehicles to limit travel at night, especially during heavy rain when visibility is limited.

Thus far, all the mountain passes leading to Da Lat city (the administrative center of Lam Dong province), including Mimosa, Prenn, and D'ran passes, have returned to relatively normal operation after the exceptionally heavy and prolonged rains from the end of October to the beginning of December 2025, which caused serious landslides and damage.

Previously, a reporter from the Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN) reported that on the afternoon of November 2nd, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee had to declare a state of emergency due to a natural disaster affecting National Highway 20, specifically the section through D'ran Pass. The report stated that from October 26th to 30th, prolonged rainfall caused landslides on National Highway 20, specifically the section from Km262+400 to Km262+530 (near the D'ran Pass suspension bridge) in Xuan Truong commune, Da Lat. The estimated volume of soil and rocks that collapsed reached 60,000 cubic meters. This situation caused traffic congestion, made travel unsafe for people and vehicles, and posed a risk of further landslides if no emergency response measures were taken.

The Provincial People's Committee leadership has instructed the People's Committee of Xuan Truong Ward, Da Lat City, to coordinate with relevant agencies to resolutely organize the relocation (enforced relocation if necessary); and immediately evacuate households in the landslide area to ensure the absolute safety of people's lives and property.
