Japan and Brazil are assisting Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of storms and floods.

On December 12, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Japanese government would provide an emergency grant of $1.5 million to help Vietnam overcome the severe damage caused by recent storms and floods in the central region.

Speaking at a press conference, Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu said that the aforementioned aid would be transferred from Japan to Vietnam through international organizations as soon as possible.

Specifically, Japan provided basic necessities worth $1 million through the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and provided clean water and sanitation services worth $500,000 through the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Foreign Minister Motegi added that Southeast Asia has recently suffered significant damage from typhoons and floods. Japan has been providing appropriate assistance based on the needs and requests of each country. In the future, if similar situations occur again, Japan will continue to make efforts to provide assistance to the best of its ability.

Meanwhile, in Brazil, over the past few days, many organizations, businesses, and friends in the country have responded to the call from the Brazil-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce to join hands in supporting Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

JBS Group – one of Brazil's largest food processing companies with partnerships in Vietnam – has taken the lead in donating $20,000 along with 1,000 sets of blankets, sheets, and mattresses to affected families, aiming to provide timely support to people in the flood-stricken areas.

Furthermore, on the Brazilian government side, the Brazilian Agency for Cooperation (ABC) under the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during a meeting with the delegation from the Central Committee for Strategic Policy of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Deputy Head Nguyen Duc Hien, who visited Brazil in early December, the agency indicated it is studying appropriate support measures for the people of Central Vietnam.

ABC emphasized that it would consider the possibility of sharing experiences in disaster management, flood response, and post-disaster reconstruction, areas in which Brazil has accumulated much practical experience in recent years.

Several Brazilian businesses in the logistics, agriculture, and supply chain sectors are also actively considering supporting shipping costs and financing relief goods sent to Vietnam.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil stated that it will continue to coordinate closely with Brazilian authorities and the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure that all aid is delivered to Vietnam in a timely, safe, and effective manner.

In addition to the contributions mentioned above, many embassies in the area and the Brazil-Vietnam Friendship Association have also sent letters and telegrams expressing condolences for the loss of life and property in the recent floods in Vietnam.
