Rockfall caused by landslide during flood, officials and people of Muong Xen commune (Nghe An) were lucky to escape by a hair's breadth

On July 22, many communes in the old Ky Son district of Nghe An experienced heavy rain, flooding and landslides. On the way to work, a group of officials from Muong Xen commune and many local people were suddenly hit by landslides and falling rocks.

People in Muong Xen commune (former Ky Son district) said that around noon on July 22, flood water on Nam Mo river rose rapidly, flowed strongly and began to flood many places.

For many days now, the local authorities have been working closely with the local people to support the people in the villages and hamlets in flood prevention and control. On the morning of July 22, on the way to inspect the flood situation on the road from Muong Xen commune to Muong Ai commune, the working group of Muong Xen commune encountered a landslide and falling rocks. Luckily, the members of the group narrowly escaped.

Also in the morning, many people passing this road also encountered landslides, with rocks and soil falling down onto the road. Luckily, no one was injured.

Currently, due to floods, in some villages in the communes of Ky Son district (old), especially the border communes such as Muong Xen, Na Loi, Muong Ai, the authorities have begun to mobilize and evacuate households affected by landslides and floods.
