Sowing the seeds of student scientific research

Over the years, from traditional activities such as Student Scientific Research Conferences, Danang University has upgraded to the "Student Scientific Research Award", thereby discovering and nurturing key players in students, spreading the passion for research and creativity. The highlight of the Award is the connection of three companions supporting students in scientific research: Danang Department of Science and Technology with the role of State support and creation, BIDV Hai Van Branch with the role of Enterprise supporting additional resources, and member training institutions of Danang University with the role of School gathering and selecting excellent scientific topics and projects among students.

In addition, the Youth Creativity Festival organized by Danang University in conjunction with the Student Scientific Research Award is a playground for innovation and creativity to foster the spirit of young entrepreneurship right in the classroom. This is also a very unique way of doing things, spreading widely in schools and member units of Danang University such as: BKDN Techshow (University of Science and Technology - Danang University organizes demonstrations of technology products from scientific research of students, expanding to high school students); Technology startup competition among students (organized by Danang University Student Association); "SV_STARTUP - Leading the future" competition (initiated by University of Technical Education - Danang University)...

This year's Danang University Student Scientific Research Award with 2 fields: Natural Science and Technology, Medical Science and Pharmacy and Social Science and Humanities are 2 focuses not only on contributing human resources to develop strategic technology fields but also on cultural fields, sustainable development for people.

According to the jury representative, students' topics are increasingly invested in systematically, applying 4.0 technology platforms (Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Big Data, Blockchain...) and connecting interdisciplinary knowledge, discovering and contributing to solving problems of practical and scientific significance.

While in the past, international publications were mainly from scientists and lecturers, while still a student, through this Award, there were publications in prestigious journals (WoS/Scopus, Q1) such as the First Prize for the 2024-2025 academic year on the topic "Developing environmentally friendly electrolytes for sustainable electrochromic devices: a green approach for smart greenhouses" (student group of the Vietnam - UK Institute for Research and Training, University of Danang: Phan Thi Minh Hang, Tran Thi Thanh Thanh).

Along with that are other topics with highly applicable product results such as: "Berberin - curcumin gel helps limit antibiotic resistance (group of students from the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Danang: Vo Van Nhu Hoang, Nguyen Hoang Anh, Tran Thi Hien, Tran Phan Hoang Tuan) or "Mobile application to warn of the risk of myocardial infarction through a wearable device" (student Do Thai Binh, University of Technical Education - University of Danang).

Incubator for young scientific talents

From the incubator of Danang University, many sweet fruits have promised to reach the future young talents. Typically, the First Prize of Danang University Student Scientific Research Award in the last academic year (2023-2024), the group of students from the University of Economics - Danang University: Le Kha Tuyet Phuong, Tran Kim Bao Phuc, Phan Thu Ngan, Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc continued to shine, achieving higher awards in regional, national/international competitions and conferences.

The content of the topic "Exploring the impact of gratifications on the behavioral intention of voice assistants' users: A cross-cultural study" was developed and completed by members, teachers and lecturers in the Award Council and won First Prize at the city level (2024); "Best Paper" Award at the International Conference on Scientific Research of Students of Universities in Economics and Business (SR-ICYREB - 2024); Third Prize of the National Science and Technology Award for Higher Education Institutions in 2024 (organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, prestigious and annual).

Semi-automatic fresh lotus seed shelling machine was created and designed by students of Danang University in the classroom, and applied to serve the community.

Student Le Kha Tuyet Phuong continues to be honored to receive 2 full scholarships at the same time to connect with the world at prestigious schools in Europe. The full scholarship from the Danish Government (at Copenhagen Business School worth about 1.6 billion VND) is Tuyet Phuong's dream to pursue the MSc EBA in Supply Chain Management program. Along with that is a full scholarship from Trento University (Italy) (worth about 700 million VND). This is the motivation for her to continue writing her dream on the journey of integration and mastering international scientific knowledge, student Tuyet Phuong shared.

A representative of the University of Danang said that from the 2025-2026 school year, the University of Danang will give high priority to achievements and scientific research results in emulation and reward work; direct member training institutions to increase funding sources to support students in scientific research, create conditions for innovation and start-up topics and projects of students to participate in regional, national and international academic competitions and playgrounds; register intellectual property and start-up incubation.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Doan Ngoc Phi Anh, Vice Rector of the University of Economics - University of Danang, with the strong orientation of the University of Danang on implementing training programs taught entirely in English, supporting international databases for students to do scientific research, the University of Economics has created all conditions and accompanied students to participate in research right from the time they entered the school. Students are a pioneering and creative force.
