Hanoi National University announces the 2026 Competency Assessment exam schedule

The Institute of Digital Training and Testing - Hanoi National University has just announced the schedule for the 2026 High School Student Assessment (HSA) exam.

Regarding the time to register for the Competency Assessment exam, candidates create an exam account from November 25 to December 27, 2025 at: https://khaothi.vnu.edu.vn/ or https:/hsa.edu.vn/

Candidates can only choose one exam session in each exam period. The exam registration schedule is expected to be from 9:00 a.m. on December 28 to 4:30 p.m. on February 7, 2026 (in case of any change in exam registration time, the Institute of Digital Training and Testing will notify candidates 10 days in advance on the information pages).

The system will open for candidates to choose the second exam session (if there are still seats available according to the exam scale) from 9:00 a.m. on February 8 to 9:00 a.m. on February 14, 2026.

Candidates should note that the registration period may end earlier when all the exam seats have been filled. The system only allows one account to log in and operate on one computer device at the same time.

Exam dates and locations

Candidates should pay attention to the high school exam schedule and avoid choosing the same HSA exam session.

Specifically, the 2026 Hanoi National University Capacity Assessment exams and locations are as follows:

Candidates should note that registration and exam fees must be paid online within 96 hours of completing the exam registration. If the fee is not paid within 96 hours, the exam will be automatically canceled. The exam fee is 600,000 VND/candidate/exam. The fee is non-refundable for any reason. Therefore, candidates should read the instructions carefully and consider carefully before paying the fee.

The system allows candidates to register for a maximum of 2 exams per year (until December 31, 2026). Two consecutive exams must be at least 28 days apart.

Exam notification will be sent via email and posted on the exam account 7 days before the official exam date.

The HSA exam is taken on a computer, lasting 195 minutes and consisting of 3 sections, including 2 compulsory sections in the fields of Mathematics & Data Processing (50 questions, 75 minutes) and Literature - Language (50 questions, 60 minutes). The third section (50 questions, 60 minutes) allows candidates to choose either Science or English.

Candidates can view the “Reference Exam” at the exam information portal https://khaothi.vnu.edu.vn/. In each exam section, there may be an additional test question that is not scored (the exam system will calculate additional time for test questions).

Candidates will look up exam results and receive the Score Report via their account 2 weeks after the exam ends.

Paper score reports will be sent by post to the address and phone number declared in the HSA exam registration account within 3 weeks after the end of the exam (for candidates who registered to receive a paper copy).
