| Da Nang International Fireworks Festival makes a mark to elevate the city's position. |
Representative ofSun Group Corporation, the companion unit of DIFF 2025, Mr. Huynh Nam Thang, General Director of Sun Group Central Region, said:
- DIFF 2025 takes place from May 31 to July 12 with the theme "Danang - The New Rising Era". 2025 is the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang city, so DIFF 2025 conveys the message, affirming the city's aspirations and determination in the new period, with a vision of prosperous development and efforts to mark Da Nang's position on the international tourism map.
* DIFF 2025 is considered the largest festival season ever. Can you tell us what makes this year's DIFF season different?
- The first difference is that compared to previous fireworks seasons, DIFF 2025 is the longest and most spectacular fireworks season in the history of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, with 6 fireworks nights and the participation of 10 competing teams from Vietnam, Finland, England, Portugal, Poland, Korea, Italy, Canada, and China.
The opening night of DIFF 2025 took place on the evening of May 31, with a performance between the two teams Vietnam 1 and Finland under the theme Cultural Essence. This is also the first year that two teams representing Vietnam will participate in DIFF. The fireworks nights will then be held every Saturday night in the following weeks, with a week off before the final night, with the following themes and participating teams: night 2 (June 7): Creative Arts, Vietnam 2 - Poland; night 3 (June 14) Journey of Connection, Canada - China; night 4 (June 21) - Sustainable Development, Portugal - UK; night 5 (June 28) - Leading Technology, Korea - Italy; night 6 (July 12), Welcoming the New Era - final.
* Not just fireworks, DIFF 2025 seems to be "upgraded" to become an art festival?
- That's right. We don't just organize a fireworks competition, but also aim to create a true festival space, where visitors can immerse themselves in art and live fully in emotions. That is the biggest difference between the international fireworks festival and similar events in the region.
Each competition night brings together a cast of top artists to create passionate music nights. The DIFF 2025 stage is twice as large as last year, becoming one of the most magnificent stages in the history of the festival. The stage area is up to 1,605.8m². The mechanical system has 5 lifting domes, of which the central dome is 21m wide, with 2 wing domes 18.5m wide. The design is flexible and opens up the possibility of unique shaping, enhancing the visual experience. The sound system is completely upgraded, ensuring performance quality for both the live concert and the fireworks competition.
This year's stage design bears a strong cultural imprint, inspired by the land of Da Nang itself. The organizers chose the image of Ngu Hanh Son as the main idea. The center is the image of a bright pearl in the middle of the ocean, symbolizing Da Nang's desire to shine. The continuous mountain lines represent harmony and solidarity, which is also the message of "New Era" that DIFF 2025 wants to convey.
* One notable point is that DIFF 2025 will apply AR virtual reality technology. What experience will this bring to the audience, sir?
- This is one of the most special breakthroughs of DIFF 2025. For the first time, a fireworks festival in Vietnam applies virtual reality (AR) technology to each ticket and outdoor space.
Each DIFF ticket this year is not only a “key” to enter the fireworks viewing area, but also a “gate” that opens a 3D virtual reality space. We have a total of 6 fireworks nights, each with a separate theme, corresponding to 6 completely different AR worlds. When opening the Sun Paradise Land application and scanning the ticket, the audience will be able to see the architectural, cultural, and natural symbols typical of the city on the Han River. It could be the Dragon Bridge, or the Marble Mountains “rising” right in the palm of your hand.
Another highlight is Sky AR, an outdoor virtual reality technology in the Han River space. Sky AR allows viewers to interact directly with the sky via their phones. Da Nang symbols such as the Golden Bridge, Marble Mountains... appear vividly, blending with real light, creating the feeling of watching a "second layer of fireworks". This is the new layer of emotion that DIFF incorporates into each competition night.

* So, besides the show nights, where can visitors experience this technology?
- To spread this new technology experience, the DIFF 2025 Organizing Committee is implementing a free Sky AR experience program for the public, from May 29 to July 12, every night from 6pm to 12pm, in the space along the Han River, the area from the DIFF stage to the Dragon Bridge.
In particular, at 8:25 p.m. on May 29, May 30, May 31, June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28 and July 12, users can experience Sky AR via the Sun Paradise Land app.
* With such scale and investment, what do you think DIFF 2025 will bring to Da Nang?
- We believe that DIFF is a driving force for the city's development. Each DIFF season not only attracts tourists to Da Nang, but also keeps them longer, spends more and explores more. From there, it creates a positive economic and social flow that spreads to different industries: accommodation, cuisine, services, transportation... More importantly, DIFF contributes to raising the image of Da Nang on the world tourism map. An international-scale fireworks festival, with the participation of many countries, applying advanced AR technology, and famous artists... is the clearest proof of Vietnam's ability to organize high-class events, as well as the spirit of innovation, creativity and continuous development of Da Nang city.
* After many years of accompanying DIFF, what makes Sun Group always passionate about this festival, sir?
- Organizing DIFF is our way of “beautifying the lands” as the group’s consistent philosophy. In addition to the classy, quality and unique projects that we have created in Da Nang, we want DIFF to spread its “soul” of long-term cultural and artistic values.
