In Huynh Mai village (Tuy Phuoc commune) - a heavily flooded area, the General and leaders of Gia Lai province directly visited households whose houses were swept away or damaged, shared their difficulties and encouraged people to soon stabilize their lives.

Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that the province has implemented emergency support policies such as: 2 million VND/household/month for 3 months for poor and near-poor households, distributing 45kg of rice/person to severely flooded households. For households whose houses have completely collapsed, the total support is up to 200 million VND/household (including 60 million VND according to policy and 140 million VND from mobilized resources). The total mobilized resources to date are nearly 1,000 billion VND.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Central Government continue to support resources and requested the military and police forces to stay close to the locality, especially in vulnerable areas, to proactively respond to storms and rains at the end of the year.

Speaking at the scene, General Phan Van Giang acknowledged the local efforts in flood response and recovery. He asked the military forces to continue mobilizing vehicles and human resources to quickly help people rebuild their houses, especially in remote areas with difficult traffic, to reduce costs for the people.
“The army is the people’s son. Many officers and soldiers are also good masons, so we must try our best to help people stabilize their lives soon,” the General emphasized.

In the flood-prone area of Lac Dien ( Tuy Phuoc Dong commune), the working group went to the house of Ms. Nguyen Minh Du - who had just experienced a major flood that forced her whole family to climb up the stairs to take shelter, and their belongings were swept away - to give gifts and encourage her spirit.
“The flood was too high and the water flowed very fast, so many of the furniture and belongings in the house were swept away, soaked, and damaged. Luckily, my whole family is safe,” said Ms. Du.

On this occasion, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense supported Gia Lai province with 10 billion VND, along with 10 tons of dry food, 5,000 sets of clothes, 2,500 double tulle curtains and 2,500 single tulle curtains. In addition, Hanoi City also provided 50 billion VND in support to help Gia Lai overcome the consequences of storms and floods.

Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc said that the recent historic flood caused many areas in the East of the province to be deeply flooded, the water rose quickly and flowed strongly, making command and rescue work on the spot difficult. The military and police forces evacuated people overnight, rescuing them by moving from low houses to high houses, then approaching the deeply flooded areas with ropes to ensure people's safety.
