On March 11, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province said that it had just coordinated with the People's Committee of Phu Yen province to send an inter-provincial proposal to the Ministry of Transport to update and add the Buon Ma Thuot - Tuy Hoa railway line to the railway network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, and soon implement investment in the Phu Yen - Dak Lak expressway (before 2030).
Accordingly, the content of the submission stated that in the master plan for the development of Vietnam's railway transport to 2020, with a vision to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister, the Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen) - Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) railway line is the east-west railway axis connecting the section between the Central Highlands railway line (Da Nang - Kon Tum - Dak Lak - Binh Phuoc) and the North-South railway line; with a total length of about 169 km, single track, 1,435mm gauge. The investment phase is from 2020 - 2030 and after 2030, with both budget and private capital.
Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway is under construction.
In addition to this east-west railway, according to the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, there is also the Dak Lak - Phu Yen expressway. According to the planning, the expressway starts at Bai Goc seaport (Phu Yen), the end point is at Dak Rue border gate area (Dak Lak), with a total length of about 220 km; investment scale from 2 - 4 lanes.
This is a route connecting to important national traffic axes, such as Vietnam's coastal road, National Highway 29, National Highway 1, North-South Expressway, Truong Son Dong Road, National Highway 14, National Highway 14C and provincial roads of Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces.
According to leaders of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces, it is necessary to add the Buon Ma Thuot - Tuy Hoa railway line to the national railway planning system and soon invest in the Phu Yen - Dak Lak expressway.
These are two modes of transport and strategic routes connecting east and west, connecting forests with the sea, synchronously connecting traffic infrastructure in the Central Highlands and Central Coast regions... Thereby, opening up a method of transporting large volumes, with low transportation costs, high productivity; increasing regional connectivity, connecting multimodal transport, and convenience.
From there, improve traffic capacity, reduce logistics costs, improve the competitiveness of the economy; create favorable conditions for attracting investment, promoting production, processing, consumption and export of key products in the process of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the two provinces in particular and the Central Highlands and Central Coast regions in general...
