Representatives of the State Reserve Department of the Southern Central Highlands region, the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Lak district inspected rice before distributing it to the people.
According to Nguyen Nam Thang, Director of the State Reserve Department of the Southern Central Highlands region, based on Decision No. 1049/QD-TTg dated September 13, 2023 of the Prime Minister on the issuance of rice from the national reserve to localities to support people during the 2023 crop gap, along with the decisions of the General Department of State Reserves and the People's Committee of Dak Lak province, the unit has quickly deployed to promptly distribute rice to the people.
The State Reserve Department of the Southern Central Highlands region checks and ensures that the quality of rice meets the standards before being released from the warehouse; coordinates with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to schedule the delivery and distribution of rice; checks and supervises the delivery and distribution of rice support with the correct quality, quantity, and location.
The localities receiving rice to distribute to people in this period include the districts of Lak, Krong Ana, Krong Bong, Krong Nang, Krong Buk, Ea H'leo, M'Drak, Buon Don, Ea Sup, and Cu M'gar.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Thang emphasized that although the rice delivery time is short and the distance from the warehouse to many rice receiving localities is far, the unit determined that this is an important and urgent political task, so it strives to deliver rice on schedule, ensuring quantity and quality according to standards.
The rice distribution during the lean season aims to help people in especially difficult circumstances stabilize their lives, develop production, and contribute to ensuring social security in the locality.
Giving national reserve rice to people in special difficulty in Bong Krang commune, Lak district, Dak Lak province.
Lak District (Dak Lak Province) is the locality that received the most rice support in this period with more than 133 tons. This is a heroic district, ethnic minorities account for 67% of the district's population, with over 8,000 poor households.
Although Lak district is the province's rice granary, due to the impact of floods that occurred in late July and early September 2023, nearly 3,000 hectares of local summer-autumn rice were flooded, of which more than 2,000 hectares were completely lost.
Therefore, the Government's rice support to relieve hunger during the 2023 crop gap period has a deeper and more humane meaning for the people in the area.
Vice Chairman of Lak District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Tu said that people in the district, especially ethnic minorities, mainly work in agriculture and slash-and-burn farming. Due to the impact of heavy rains and floods, agricultural production and people's lives are affected.
Receiving timely support of national reserve rice, the people were very excited. The District People's Committee received rice, took samples and sealed the rice samples, and distributed it to the people in accordance with regulations, policies and targets.
