The incident was captured by security cameras on June 24th in a village in Pu'er Township (Yunnan Province, China).
According to local residents, six wild elephants "broke into" people's homes, ate corn and pig feed in the yards, and then left.

The area surrounding the village is known to be primary forest, where elephants are frequently seen.
Villagers said they had long been accustomed to elephants appearing in the village, but the elephants' intrusion into people's homes was "unprecedented" and "extremely audacious".
People typically file insurance claims if they suffer property damage.
Local authorities said they have been using a specialized app to closely monitor the elephants' activities, thereby providing timely warnings to residents to ensure their safety.

Last year, a video capturing the moment a wild elephant blocked a road, attacked, and overturned a truck sent chills down the spines of many witnesses.
A terrifying moment, captured by a witness on a forest road in rural Chachoengsao province (Thailand), shows a wild elephant blocking the road and then suddenly attacking a truck that had stopped to avoid the elephant.
The elephant used its head and trunk to ram and overturn the small truck with little difficulty. After the truck tipped over, the elephant continued to use its trunk to sniff around the vehicle, seemingly searching for food inside.
The people in the surrounding cars were terrified as they witnessed the event unfolding before their eyes and immediately turned their vehicles around to find a way to escape, avoiding the elephant attack.
