In the men's 100m final, Oblique Seville overcame two formidable opponents, Kishane Thompson and Noah Lyles, to finish first with a time of 9.77.

This achievement helped Seville win the first world gold medal of his career, and also become the first Jamaican to win this event since Usain Bolt won the tournament in 2015.

Kishane Thompson won silver in 9.82 and Olympic champion Noah Lyles won bronze in 9.89. Not only did he become a new world champion, but the feat also vaulted Seville into the all-time top 10.

In the women's 100m final, American athlete Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the gold medal with a time of 10.61.

Jamaica's Tia Clayton won silver and Saint Lucia's Julien Alfred won bronze.

Speaking to BBC Sports after the win, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden said:

"This victory was not easy. I had to prepare a lot, work hard and trust my coach completely. I came here as a hunter, I was never a world champion or an Olympic champion in the 100m. Now I have done it."
