Bright spots in women's movements

In recent times, the Women's Union of Nha Trang Ward has achieved many positive results in the patriotic emulation movement. Accordingly, many good models and effective methods, suitable for each target group, have come into life, helping many less fortunate circumstances in the locality.

Effective implementation of models

The Women's Union of the ward has 9,364 members, operating in 75 branches. To support members in difficult circumstances, the union launched the movement "Women save to help each other" through the establishment of 136 interest-free revolving savings groups, with a total amount of nearly 2 billion VND; raising 260 piggy banks, earning more than 300 million VND. From this amount, the union has supported capital, given gifts, provided means of livelihood, and given health insurance (BHYT) to more than 2,400 members, women in difficult circumstances, poor and near-poor households. Typically, at Residential Group 1 Dinh Cu, in addition to the interest-free revolving savings group, the branch also has a piggy bank raising model. According to Ms. Ly Thi Kim Huong - Branch President, during activities and holidays such as: International Women's Day (March 8), Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20), Vietnamese Family Day (June 28)..., members all contribute money to raise piggy banks, earning from 900,000 VND to 1.2 million VND each year to buy health insurance for members in need. For example, Ms. Le Thi Hoa - currently renting a house at Ngo Gia Tu apartment building, used to sell food to earn money to raise her children, take care of her elderly mother-in-law and her husband with cancer, the family fell into difficult circumstances. After her husband passed away, the mother and child depended on each other. "My health is weak, my legs are difficult to walk and I have many diseases. Thanks to the branch giving me health insurance, I have the conditions to go to the doctor, less worry about the cost when I am sick and hospitalized, so I am very happy" - Ms. Hoa shared.

In addition, the association at all levels has also promoted the implementation of the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" associated with building civilized urban areas, participating in preventing and combating plastic waste with many activities such as: Giving more than 200 shopping baskets to members; establishing 3 models of "Garbage collection points" on the islands; deploying the models "Green house", "Small house, million hearts", "Battery collection house"; more than 4,000 members have joined forces to collect waste, clean the environment...

Mobilizing resources to help people

The Women's Union at all levels has also actively mobilized all social resources to support people to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives, typically through the "Warm House of Love" support activity. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hai's family (Tay Son Residential Group) is a near-poor household. Her husband died of cancer, and she alone raises her children and takes care of her sick brother-in-law. The whole family lives in a 15m² house built of corrugated iron that has seriously degraded. Knowing her situation, the Women's Union of the ward has mobilized donors to support 50 million VND, combined with 42 million VND that Mrs. Hai borrowed to build a new house. Now, Mrs. Hai's family has a solid house to live in, and can work and develop the family economy with peace of mind.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly - Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Nha Trang ward, in recent years, the unions at all levels have mobilized nearly 100 million VND to support women in 4 branches on the islands; built 20 "Couples of loving leaves" worth more than 273 million VND; mobilized more than 2 billion VND to implement the model "One heart"... At the same time, vocational training and job introduction were supported for nearly 1,000 female workers; over 105 billion VND in credit from banks helped about 2,000 households borrow to develop the economy and escape poverty. The unions at all levels also gave away more than 4,000 gifts, nearly 1,000 scholarships, 60 savings books, built and repaired 4 "Warm houses of love", and gave more than 50 means of livelihood... worth more than 1 billion VND.

With those contributions, recently, the Nha Trang Ward Women's Union was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union for its outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement of the union for the period 2020 - 2025.
