The announcement stated: After listening to the report of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, the Ministry of Transport ; opinions of delegates attending the meeting on investment in construction and expansion of Phu Cat Airport, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Ministry of Transport to preside over and coordinate with the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, National Defense, Justice, Natural Resources and Environment to advise the Prime Minister on assigning the Province to manage the investment of Phu Cat Airport Project.

At the same time, the Ministry of Planning and Investment guides the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province on contents related to the law on public investment.

* Phu Cat Airport was built in the 1960s and 1970s and began operating civil aviation in 1985. After 60 years of use, it has deteriorated and its load capacity is low, resulting in only ensuring reduced operation of aircraft types such as A320/321 and equivalent. The aircraft parking lot has 7 parking positions, a passenger terminal and synchronous technical infrastructure, meeting the design capacity of about 2.0 million passengers/year.

According to the approval of Phu Cat Aviation Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the Airport is planned to add a second runway parallel to and about 215 m away from the existing runway to operate civil aviation relatively independently from the military.

According to the plan submitted by the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, the items of Phu Cat Airport expected to be implemented include the construction of runway No. 2, connecting taxiways and other works in the airport area; construction and relocation of military works to hand over land for the construction and expansion of the civil aviation area; construction of the civil aviation area.

In the immediate phase, investment is allowed to be immediately deployed in the construction of runway No. 2, connecting taxiways and other works in the airport area, with a total investment of about 3,013 billion VND to meet the socio-economic development needs of the locality.
