Promoting cashless payment channels

Cashless payments are becoming a popular and widespread payment method. Banks have many policies and solutions to develop transaction and retail services on digital platforms. This gives customers more opportunities to experience and use digital banking services more easily and conveniently, contributing to the promotion of cashless payments.

Mr. Ngoc Minh (residing in Dong Xoai ward) said: "Cashless payment channels are expanding more and more. From supermarkets and convenience stores to small retail outlets such as cafes, bakeries, and snack shops, they all have QR codes ready for customers to easily make digital payments. Besides, cashless payments also offer users many attractive promotions and incentives such as vouchers, cashback, and reward points, helping to save costs. This helps attract people, especially young people, to use digital payment channels more."

Many banks are stepping up the provision of services connecting online payment functions through dynamic QR codes and integrating payments via POS machines (devices used at points of sale to process card and QR code payments). These services offer many benefits such as: automating payment processes; improving the operational efficiency of agencies, units, and businesses; optimizing fee collection and cash flow management in real time; and promoting cashless payments…

Recently, in mid-January 2026, Dong Nai University and the Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) Dong Nai branch held a signing ceremony to officially connect the online tuition payment gateway between the two institutions.

Tran Thanh Nam, Director of Vietcombank's Dong Nai branch (in Tran Bien ward), shared: "The online tuition payment solution via dynamic QR code not only optimizes management processes and minimizes administrative procedures but also brings convenience and transparency to students, lecturers, and the school. Vietcombank's Dong Nai branch always defines its mission not only as providing financial services but also as accompanying partners in implementing the Government's digital transformation policy, contributing to promoting the socio -economic development of the locality."

With the widespread use of internet-connected smartphones, the banking industry has invested in developing various payment methods such as internet banking, mobile banking, QR code payments, card payments, e-wallets, and expanding the number of card payment acceptance points.

Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 Branch, Nguyen Duc Leinh, emphasized: Innovation and creativity in the development of digital banking products by credit institutions, with many banks introducing modern, convenient, safe, and secure payment products, not only contribute to expanding and improving the efficiency of cashless payments but also enhance the efficiency of capital utilization in the entire economy. At the same time, it continues to create momentum to promote the development of the digital economy and enhance the convenience of digital banking services for people and businesses…

According to statistics from the State Bank of Vietnam's Regional Branch 2, as of the fourth quarter of 2025, the number of ATMs in Dong Nai province reached 783, an increase of 1.55% compared to the end of 2024; the number of POS machines reached over 15,900, an increase of 8.14% compared to the end of 2024.

Focus on connecting demographic data in the development of digital banking.

The banking sector in Dong Nai focuses on implementing various solutions to connect with and utilize the national database on population, citizen identification, and electronic identification and authentication in the development of e-banking services, online account services, and online payments.

Ms. Tran Thi Hai Ha, Deputy Director of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (Agribank) Dong Nai branch (in Tran Bien ward), shared: The branch has identified promoting digital transformation and developing digital banking, coupled with the effective exploitation of the population database, as one of its key tasks. The branch will focus on applying population data to customer identification and verification, and improving risk management quality. Simultaneously, it will strongly develop digital banking services, payment accounts, and cashless payments, especially in rural areas and for individual business households.

Similarly, Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV) Bien Hoa branch (in Tran Bien ward), stated: Digital banking is and will continue to be a prominent trend in the near future and will especially develop strongly. In the coming time, BIDV Bien Hoa branch will proactively market and develop products, services, and payment methods to each residential area, as well as to leverage BIDV's existing customer base.

Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2 Branch, Nguyen Duc Leinh, further shared: Banking services in Dong Nai province continue to expand and develop in conjunction with the process of innovation and application of modern banking technology. The convenience of payment services, money transfers, and electronic banking services not only brings many benefits to customers, people, and businesses in the province but also contributes to improving the operational efficiency of credit institutions.
