In 2024, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the province is estimated to reach 60,771 billion VND, an increase of 10.14% compared to 2023. Commercial activities have positive changes with diversified business forms; applying digitalization in management and business.
The goods distribution system is widely distributed from urban to rural areas, meeting the shopping and exchange needs of people. The connection between supply and demand is focused on, contributing to maintaining a stable goods market, meeting production and consumption needs in the area.

Up to now, the whole province has 96 communes meeting criterion No. 7 on rural commercial infrastructure in the National Criteria for New Rural Communes and Advanced New Rural Communes in the period 2021-2025.
In the 2021-2024 period, the province has attracted 1 market construction project with a total investment of 15 billion VND. With the integration of capital from the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas, 7 markets in localities have been invested in construction.
Mr. Duong Dinh Kiet - Director of Kbang Infrastructure Development and Construction Company Limited - said: "Kbang Market was built according to the policy of socialization. With the scale of a class II market, in phase 1, the Company invested 12.5 billion VND to construct essential items. After 5 years of operation, the market has met the trading needs of households in the town and neighboring communes.
Currently, the market has about 200 households trading in a variety of products. The arrangement and zoning ensure order, creating many conveniences for people to buy and sell. The work of ensuring food hygiene and safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental sanitation, and security and order is focused on.
With the goal of developing a network of rural markets to contribute to the consumption of local products and meet the people's need for buying and selling essential goods, market infrastructure in Duc Co district has also been invested and upgraded.
Mr. Nguyen Dong Phai - Chairman of Ia Lang Commune People's Committee - said: "Ia Lang Commune Market has a greenhouse area of nearly 400 m2, arranged with 22 fixed stalls for buying and selling dry goods and fresh goods. The market is located along the main road, in the center of the commune, so people's trading is quite convenient.
Currently, the commune has established a Market Management Board, developed operating regulations, and continues to mobilize people in the villages to register to trade at the market.

Currently, the rural commercial infrastructure in the province basically meets the needs of buying and selling goods of the people. However, there is still a big gap between urban and rural areas, some communes have not invested in building markets, some markets have been invested in but have not been effective.
Modern business types such as supermarkets, shopping malls, and convenience stores have been established, but the growth rate is still slow. The product structure is still unreasonable, the business establishments of large corporations and distribution companies are still few, and the newly established modern retail system is mainly concentrated in urban areas.
There are 102 markets in the province, including 1 class I market, 13 class II markets, 73 class III markets and 15 temporary markets. In addition to the market network, the province has 18 supermarkets, 170 convenience stores, 426 petrol retail stores and 208 gas stores.
Ms. Dao Thi Thu Nguyet - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - said: Currently, calling for investment in market construction is facing many difficulties and obstacles.
In addition, the market system has not been properly invested, retail establishments are small, and goods are not abundant. The reason is that the technical infrastructure of trade and supporting services are still weak and fragmented, and have not had an impact on promoting trade and creating links between manufacturing enterprises and trading enterprises. The modern retail system has just been initially formed, but the scale of trade is still small, and has not changed trade activities significantly.
Faced with new requirements for rapid and sustainable development of the trade sector, further promoting the role of trade in creating added value contributing to the growth of the province's GRDP, the Department of Industry and Trade has proposed a number of solutions such as: advising on the development of the market network, calling for socialized investment in market construction and exploitation; focusing on renovating and upgrading existing urban markets and improving the quality of ensuring food safety.
In addition, integrate the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development to upgrade and renovate rural market infrastructure; review and evaluate the implementation of criterion No. 7 on rural trade infrastructure in the National Target Program on New Rural Development. At the same time, prioritize the arrangement and allocation of public investment capital to develop traditional markets, border markets, ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
According to the plan, by 2025, 100% of markets in urban and town areas will have their management and exploitation models converted; by 2030, 80% of markets in the province will have their management and exploitation models converted; commercial centers will be formed and developed in urban areas, the proportion of goods circulating through the commercial center system by 2025 will account for about 13%, by 2030 will account for 25-32%.
In addition, develop a network of facilities for purchasing agricultural and specialty products in the province; develop a system of general and specialized warehouses, cold storage to stabilize the market and balance supply and demand; invest in developing types of supermarkets, convenience stores, build points of sale for OCOP products, points of sale for Vietnamese goods.
