On the morning of November 7, Chief of Office of Ho Chi Minh City Post Office Le Hai Hoa shared information with Thanh Nien reporter about the leaders' agreement to establish a dossier to rank the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office building as a city-level relic and an architectural art form.
According to Mr. Le Hai Hoa: "After the working session with the Heritage Management Department (Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City), the two sides discussed specifically the content and procedures for requesting the ranking of the relic, and the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office has just sent a document to the leaders of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City, officially requesting the ranking of the relic for this more than 130-year-old building."

Previously, on June 17, Thanh Nien Newspaper published an article titled "National Monuments Are Afraid of Ranking" , clearly stating the current situation of some typical monuments in Ho Chi Minh City that are afraid of ranking. The reason, as Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Information Nguyen Minh Nhut said: "For a long time, the mentality of the owners or management units of monuments has often been... worried. They are afraid that once the monument is ranked, it will be under the management of the state and will no longer have the right to repair or restore it as they wish."
Urgently complete the relic ranking dossier for the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office building
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City Post Office is waiting for feedback from the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Information to soon complete the dossier for ranking this particularly meaningful work as a relic, in order to practically celebrate the 80th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh signing Decree No. 65/SL and the 20th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 2005 - November 23, 2025).
"We are deeply aware of the special value of the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office building - not only a postal transaction center, but also a historical, architectural and cultural symbol of Ho Chi Minh City for more than a century. Therefore, in order to contribute to the city in preserving and promoting the value of urban heritage, Ho Chi Minh City Post Office respectfully requests the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City to implement professional procedures according to the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage and guiding documents to prepare a dossier to rank the building as a city-level monument of the art and architecture type; at the same time, coordinate and guide Ho Chi Minh City Post Office in providing dossiers, documents, technical drawings, related information and carry out the necessary steps in the ranking process", the official dispatch sent by Mr. Nguyen Nhu Thuan - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Post Office to the leaders of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City clearly states "what needs to be done immediately".

The Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Post Office also affirmed the spirit of "Proactive, accompanying and closely coordinating" with the Department as well as the functional agencies throughout the process of preparing documents and appraisal so that the architectural work of more than 130 years old will soon be recognized as well as continue to be preserved, protected and promoted for its artistic and historical values.
