On May 18, Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Thanh Hoa province, said that the unit has prepared a proposal to the Provincial People's Committee to continue assigning 3,840 labor contract quotas for teachers.

The Department of Home Affairs also proposed that the contract implementation period be extended to 12 months, from this June to the end of May 2026.

According to the Thanh Hoa Department of Home Affairs, the proposal to assign this contract quota stems from the fact that the whole province is currently short of 12,379 teachers. Therefore, the need to supplement human resources for the 2025-2026 school year is extremely urgent.

Recently, more than 3,000 contract teachers (according to Decree 111 of the Government ) in Thanh Hoa have expressed their concern as their contracts will end on May 31.

Many teachers, especially those new to the profession or those in difficult circumstances, wish to continue signing contracts to stabilize their lives and have time to prepare for the civil service exam.

However, although the contract expiration date is approaching, the authorities have yet to make an official announcement, causing many teachers to worry that they will be "unemployed" during the summer vacation.

According to the Thanh Hoa Departmentof Education and Training, more than 3,800 contract teachers are facing the risk of losing income and having their insurance interrupted during the summer vacation, as their current contracts only last until the end of May.

Faced with that situation, the Department of Education and Training has proposed that the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province consider signing 12-month contracts for teachers according to Decree 111 to ensure the rights of workers and to suit the characteristics of the education sector.
