Phu Tho Water Supply Joint Stock Company: 60 years of construction, innovation and development

The Australian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam and leaders of Phu Tho Water Supply Joint Stock Company visited the central control system at Viet Tri Clean Water Enterprise.

In the early days of production, Viet Tri Water Plant faced many difficulties in terms of facilities, with 18 staff and workers (CBCN) who were mainly unskilled laborers, very few of whom were trained in water supply; along with that, the local infrastructure was not yet developed, people's awareness of the need to use clean water was limited, affecting the demand, investment capacity, and construction of a water supply network system to factories, residential areas... During that period, while overcoming difficulties and overcoming the fierce war period under the bombs of the American Empire - the water workers of Viet Tri Water Plant steadfastly stuck around day and night to ensure water supply while producing and fighting to protect the factory and protect the beloved city. Over the past 6 decades, Phu Tho Water Supply Joint Stock Company has constantly strived and made efforts to become one of the typical enterprises of the province and the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association.

60 years - a long enough time to demonstrate the entire historical process of Phu Tho Water Supply Joint Stock Company. That was in the period of 1960-1965, along with the whole country enthusiastically implementing the first 5-year plan, the groundbreaking and construction of Viet Tri Water Plant was a recognition and effort of the first generation of employees of the unit with great contributions to building the foundation for the development of a water industry enterprise with many prospects in the homeland of the Fatherland.

From 1965 to 1992, in the context of the war against the US and after the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, it was a period of both active production and readiness to fight, serving the fight with the whole country to create the Great Spring Victory of the reunification of the country in 1975, in which 36 officers and employees of the Phu Tho water sector went to fight the enemy, made achievements in protecting the independence and freedom of the nation, reunifying the country and entering a new revolutionary stage, implementing Uncle Ho's teachings "After defeating the US, we will rebuild our country to be more dignified and beautiful", meeting new requirements and tasks, Viet Tri Water Plant's capacity was increased from 9,000 to ^16,000m3 /day and night, some items were renovated.

60 years of construction, innovation and development, Phu Tho Water Supply Joint Stock Company has constantly strived to improve, approach and innovate advanced technology equipment to ensure the production and supply of clean water according to Vietnamese quality standards. Since May 2001, the Viet Tri Water Supply Project and Phu Tho Town Water Supply Project were completed and put into use from ODA loans from the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of Japan. The Company has replaced the entire old water supply system with a new, advanced and synchronous water supply system.

The unit has proactively coordinated with foreign experts and Viet Tri city to implement a communication project, raising public awareness about the advantages of using clean water sources to ensure environmental sanitation, and at the same time, preparing conditions for converting business operations to meet new requirements.

Since December 28, 2005, the Provincial People's Committee has issued Decision No. 3605 approving the plan to convert Phu Tho Water Supply Company into Phu Tho State-owned Water Supply Company. By November 2008, implementing the State's equitization policy and Decision No. 3315 dated November 17, 2008 of the Provincial People's Committee approving the conversion plan, Phu Tho State-owned Water Supply Company was converted into Phu Tho Water Supply Joint Stock Company.

In 5 years (2009-2014), the Company invested in building Phong Chau town water plant with a capacity of 12,000 m3/day and night, Thanh Thuy water plant with a capacity of 20,000 m3/day and night, rebuilding the Phu Tho town water plant treatment area to increase the capacity to 12,000 m3/day and night with capital mobilized from shareholders and employees to expand the area of ​​operation.

Specializing in the production and distribution of clean water to serve the needs of production, daily life and other needs in the province, since its establishment, especially when switching to the joint-stock model, autonomy and flexibility in the new model, the Company continues to create a breakthrough in production and business, ensuring adequate water supply for customers, preventing water shortages, the quality of water supplied to customers is increasingly improved, ensuring standards according to international regulations. From a factory with a capacity of ^9,000m3 /day and night to now a total capacity of ^255,000m3 /day and night, supplying water to 13/13 districts, cities and towns. Continuing the development journey, the Company is currently investing in the construction of a new Le My Water Plant to supply water to the communes of Le My, Lien Hoa, Phu My and neighboring communes of Phu Ninh and Doan Hung districts; Completed the construction of two new water plants Lam Son Tam Nong, Xuan Ang Ha Hoa, built a new pumping station I Cam Khe, invested in over 9km of water supply pipeline from Ha Hoa town to Dan Thuong commune. Currently, the company manages over 200,000 customers.

In response to the requirements of modernization, innovation and pioneering in water production technology in the new period, the Company has signed contracts with a number of universities and colleges in and outside the area, allowing many of the Company's staff to study and train in economic management and human resource management classes; investing in automation, increasing the capacity of water plants, installing smart valve systems, electromagnetic meters, dataloggers to monitor the network using the Scada system, investing in an automatic water production management system operation center (general control room), applying new science and technology to cashier work, preventing revenue loss... to improve the quality of service for customers.

In recognition of the efforts and achievements over the past 60 years, the Party and the State have awarded the Company many noble prizes. From 2003 to present, the Company's Party Committee has always maintained the title: "Excellent clean and strong Party Committee", and has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee; and many Certificates of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee. Twice, the Company was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the State (1973 and 1998); in 2003, the Second Class Labor Medal; in 2008, the First Class Labor Medal; in 2014, the Company was honored to receive the Excellent Emulation Flag from the Government, and was awarded the brand: "Vietnam Golden Brand"... These achievements are thanks to the close and regular leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association; the effective coordination of departments, branches, districts, cities, and towns; the support of all classes of people; the solidarity, creativity and constant efforts of the collective, shareholders and employees throughout the Company.

The road ahead is opening up many opportunities, advantages and also many difficulties and challenges. More than ever, Phu Tho Water Supply Joint Stock Company has correctly and fully assessed the situation, closely following the Party's leadership and the local socio-economic development policies, and performing its functions and tasks well. From there, the collective, shareholders and employees of the Company are determined to strive in the next 5 years (2025-2030) to increase the rate of water users to 90% in the whole province, together unite to overcome all difficulties and challenges, firmly step on the new path, actively contribute to the industrialization and modernization of the country, worthy of the attention and expectations of the Party Committee, the People's Government of Phu Tho province, the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association and worthy of the trust of the People.
