Dien Bien arrests and handles more than 60 cases of smuggling and trade fraud

Discussing in detail, Mr. Vu Hong Son, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dien Bien , said: During the peak period of fighting against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights (from May 15 to present), the functional forces of Dien Bien province have inspected 73 cases; arrested and handled 62 cases. Many products of unknown origin were confiscated and destroyed.

Specifically, from May 16 to 4:00 p.m. on June 3, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 presided over and coordinated with relevant departments and functional forces to inspect 58 cases; arrest and handle 50 violations. Of which, 27 cases/27 subjects were detected and administratively sanctioned; the total amount of money collected and paid to the state budget was more than 700 million VND (administrative fines of nearly 220 million VND and tax arrears of 490 million VND).

The confiscated goods included: 1,330 cosmetic products, 39 garment products counterfeiting famous brands and 2,010 packs of smuggled cigarettes; nearly 100kg of frozen chicken, 727 units of expired food products, 117 expired cosmetic products and 310 food products of unknown origin were destroyed.

Also regarding the inspection and control of market goods, from May 21 to 4:00 p.m. on June 3, the Provincial Interdisciplinary Delegation inspected 15 cases; arrested and detected administrative violations in 12 cases/12 subjects, and collected 126 million VND to the state budget.

The main violations include: trading in smuggled goods, trading in counterfeit goods, trading in goods of unknown origin, trading in expired goods, and violating food safety conditions.
