Exchanging detailed information about the dysentery situation in the area, Mr. Bui Thanh Hai, Director of Dien Bien District Medical Center said: From December 6 to 11, Dien Bien district recorded 28 cases of dysentery (including 26 cases in Muong Pon commune and 2 cases in Na Tong commune).
In Muong Pon commune, the first case detected was a student at Muong Pon Secondary School; then the number of cases gradually increased, by December 11, the school had recorded 19 students infected with dysentery. Of these, 6 students were transferred to the District Medical Center for treatment; 13 students were monitored, isolated and treated at school.
In Na Tong commune, two cases of the disease were detected in the community; both patients are currently being admitted and treated at the Department of Infectious Diseases , Dien Bien District Medical Center.
Regarding the treatment and prevention measures, Mr. Bui Thanh Hai said: Currently, the District Medical Center maintains a mobile medical team to prevent and control dysentery in Muong Pon commune, performing the task of providing professional support to admit and treat dysentery patients at Muong Pon Secondary School. This mobile medical team will be on duty 24/7, ready to receive, provide first aid, emergency treatment, and care for patients.
Along with that, the Center has directed the Preventive Medicine Team to urgently disinfect and sterilize the environment in areas where cases of the disease have been recorded.
“Up to now, 8 cases of students and residents in Muong Pon commune have been cured and continue to be monitored at home,” Mr. Bui Thanh Hai added.
