Vietnam-Austria High-Tech Cooperation and Innovation Forum 2025

NDO - The Vietnam-Austria High-Tech Cooperation and Innovation Forum 2025 was solemnly held in Vienna (Austria) on May 16. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung delivered an online speech.

The event was co-organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, the National Innovation Center (NIC), the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam and the Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce (WKO).

The Forum is a strategic milestone in the process of enhancing comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Austria in the fields of high technology, innovation and digital transformation, the core driving forces for rapid and sustainable growth of the two economies in the new era.

During more than 50 years of friendly relations, Austria has not only been an important trade partner of Vietnam in Europe, but also a model for developing source technology, core technology and national innovation ecosystem.

Speaking at the Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed: “Science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation are the most important breakthroughs, playing a central role in improving productivity, growth quality and national competitiveness. In more than 50 years of friendly relations, Austria has not only been an important trade partner of Vietnam in Europe, but also a model for developing source technology, core technology and the national innovation ecosystem.”

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung appreciated Austria's pioneering role in strategic technology fields such as AI, semiconductors, quantum, and sensors, and expressed his confidence in the potential for extensive cooperation between the two countries.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed four key cooperation directions: strengthening cooperation in strategic technology sectors, building R&D centers and training human resources; implementing programs to enhance innovation capacity and digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises; cooperating in developing green energy, testing green hydrogen chains; promoting the core role of innovation centers such as NIC in incubating startups and promoting public-private partnerships.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria, Mr. Vu Le Thai Hoang emphasized: “The forum is a concrete step to realize the policy of technology diplomacy and innovation of the Vietnamese Government, demonstrating the spirit of proactive integration and cooperation for mutual development on the basis of comprehensive connection between the state-enterprise-intellectuals-startups.

Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Vo Xuan Hoai, Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center, said: “In the process of perfecting institutions, developing human resources and investing in infrastructure to serve technology development, innovation and digital transformation, Vietnam has identified strengthening international cooperation as a strategic direction. In particular, promoting cooperation with the Republic of Austria, a country with strengths in research and development of core technologies and source technologies, is considered an important step to support Vietnam in developing strategic industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, electronics and clean energy.”

Through the Forum, Vietnam affirms its role as a strategic link in the global innovation value chain, and is an attractive destination for Austrian and European “technology eagles”. The event also opens up opportunities for businesses from both sides to cooperate more deeply in technology transfer, human resource development, and together create the foundation for a prosperous digital future.

The forum brings together many leading organizations, businesses and technology corporations in Vietnam and Austria such as UNIDO, Infineon, TTTech, Siconnnex, Dynatrace, Genetica, FPT, VNPT, Sovico... along with research institutes, universities, startups, and specialized associations in the fields of AI, semiconductors, health technology, electronics, IoT, quantum, edge computing and robotics.
