Forum on Coconut Tree Health Management

On the morning of November 6, at Tra Vinh University, the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Tra Vinh University and the Vietnam Coconut Association organized the Forum "Communication on health management of Vietnamese coconut trees to meet production requirements associated with consumers".

On the morning of November 6, at Tra Vinh University, the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Tra Vinh University and the Vietnam Coconut Association organized the Forum "Communication on health management of Vietnamese coconut trees to meet production requirements associated with consumers".

Mr. Chau Huu Tri - Director of Vinh Long Province Agricultural Extension Center, said it is necessary to innovate and diversify the value of the coconut industry.

The forum is organized in the form of direct online connection with the participation of leaders of departments and branches of the Mekong Delta and South Central provinces, Associations, research institutes, related universities, domestic and foreign experts; coconut processing and exporting enterprises; typical coconut growing cooperatives; a number of graduate students and university students...

The forum focused on the following issues: Integrated plant health management; developing safe and effective production and use of pesticides; developing technical and effective production and use of fertilizers; promoting production of crop products according to market regulations.

This is a space for exchanging and sharing difficulties and analyzing potentials and barriers in exporting coconut products; proposing solutions to adapt to climate change in cultivation such as varieties, fruit quality and water resources; introducing scientific and technological achievements in breeding, preserving valuable genetic resources, promoting effective connection and linkage between state management, scientific research, production, processing and consumption towards building a sustainable, adaptive and deeply integrated coconut industry.

In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa - Rector of Tra Vinh University emphasized: This is a scientific event that brings together managers, scientists, businesses, cooperatives and coconut farmers with the aim of developing the Vietnamese coconut industry sustainably, modernly, safely and in line with the needs of the domestic and international markets.

As one of the key higher education centers in the Mekong Delta, the school always considers research, conservation and development of coconut trees as one of the strategic tasks associated with the socio-economic development of the region. With the spirit of cooperation, sharing and innovation, the forum brings feasible solutions, scientific and practical orientations, helping to improve the effectiveness of communication, production and consumption of Vietnamese coconut products in the new period.
