Ho Chi Minh City Electricity invests nearly 14,000 billion VND to develop the power grid

On June 7, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen had a working session with Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation on Party building work, production and business performance in the 2020-2022 period and the first 5 months of 2023.

Reporting on the Party building work in the 2020-2022 period and the first 5 months of 2023 of the Party Committee of the Corporation, Mr. Pham Quoc Bao, Chairman of the Board of Members of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) said that as of May 31, 2023 , the EVNHCMC Party Committee had 24 party cells with 1,424 party members.

Regarding the results of implementing production and business activities - investing in the construction of the power grid in the period of 2020-2022, the leaders of EVNHCMC said that the unit has met the electricity demand of Ho Chi Minh City, with an average growth of 2%/year in the period of 2020-2022. In 2022, commercial electricity output reached 27.16 billion kWh. In 2023, it strives to reach about 28 billion kWh, reaching 102% of the plan, an increase of 3% compared to 2022. Electricity loss in the period of 2020-2022 performed well with an average reduction of 0.2%/year, by 2022, electricity loss reached 2.93%.

According to the 2022 smart grid assessment results announced by Singapore Power Group, EVNHCMC scored 71.4 points, ranking 47/94 power companies in the world in building smart grids. Despite many difficulties, in 2020-2022, EVNHCMC invested nearly 14,000 billion VND to develop the power grid in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Van Nen assessed that in Party work, EVNHCMC has put forward the motto of solidarity, democracy and innovation; closely followed the Party's policies, guidelines and Resolutions and promptly implemented and thoroughly grasped them to raise awareness, consciousness and responsibility of cadres, civil servants and Party members of the entire Party Committee. EVNHCMC has organized emulation work and patriotic emulation movements in the whole industry quite well.

From the emulation work, new factors, typical factors, and examples in training and learning have emerged. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, EVNHCMC has ensured power supply for the entire city and participated in social security work in a very timely manner.

Regarding the results of production and business tasks, comrade Nguyen Van Nen highly appreciated the efforts of EVNHCMC. The main indicators always ranked first in the national electricity industry; some indicators were on par with advanced countries in the region.

The Secretary of the City Party Committee said that, up to now, Ho Chi Minh City still has some outstanding issues that have not been resolved, EVNHCMC should share and make efforts with other sectors to resolve the remaining issues. He also directed that the Department of Planning and Architecture should set up a working group to resolve the problems in the electricity sector planning. In addition, regarding the issue of land use rights for power grid construction projects, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment should work closely with the electricity sector to resolve them once and for all.
