'Struggling' with the flood

Over the past two weeks, rising water levels have severely affected production and the lives of people in the Dong Thap Muoi region of the province. Not only have hundreds of hectares of rice, crops, and fruit trees been damaged, but hundreds of houses and many roads in low-lying communes such as Tuyen Binh and Vinh Chau have also been flooded, disrupting people's lives.

In Vinh Chau commune, more than 200 houses were flooded. Many houses were cut off due to deep flooded roads.

For the past 20 days, Au Van Dang's house in Ca Na hamlet, Tuyen Binh commune has been deeply flooded, making it difficult to travel, so he had to use a boat to get to the main road.

Not far away, Mr. Tran Van Tuan's grocery store in Ca Na hamlet, Tuyen Binh commune was also flooded. He had to prop up his goods and use temporary trees as a path to his house to sell goods to local people.

People pile up household items to avoid damage.

Mrs. Le Thi Suong's house in Lang Sen hamlet, Vinh Chau commune has been flooded more than 50cm for about half a month now.

To proactively prevent water from flooding into her house, Ms. Do Thi Be Hai (living in Lang Sen hamlet, Vinh Chau commune) had to buy materials and hire workers to build bricks to block the water. She used a motor to pump water out, and when the battery ran out, she had to wait for hours to drain the water out.

Many rural roads were flooded, affecting people's travel and making it difficult for students to get to school.
