Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh directed to strengthen solutions to control the market at the end of the year.
Struggle from border to interior
The fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the province has been carried out synchronously and drastically in recent times, achieving many positive results. With the strong participation of functional forces, many cases have been discovered and handled, contributing to stabilizing the market, protecting the rights of consumers and legitimate businesses.
Tay Ninh province has a border of nearly 368km, adjacent to the Kingdom of Cambodia, with 4 main border gates, 13 secondary border gates and many trails and openings. This is a favorable condition for socio- economic development but also poses a risk of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border, especially at the end of the year.
To control the situation, right from the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Provincial Market Management Department (QLTT) issued a plan for peak market inspection and control during the end of the year and the Lunar New Year 2026. QLTT teams increased surprise inspections at markets, supermarkets, shopping malls, warehouses, and major freight routes; closely coordinated with the Police, Customs, and Border Guard to tighten management from the border to the interior. The focus is on high-demand and easily counterfeited goods such as alcohol, beer, confectionery, clothing, cosmetics, functional foods, and modern medicines. In addition, acts of speculation, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases are also being closely monitored.
Propaganda and mobilization work to raise awareness among people and traders and not to assist in the sale of smuggled and counterfeit goods are being carried out in parallel. Authorities encourage people to detect and report violations, contributing to ensuring a stable and healthy market to serve people to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet safely.
According to information from the Provincial People's Committee, since the beginning of 2025, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; established a high-point working group and interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct general inspections and strictly handle violations throughout the area.
The report of the Provincial People's Committee shows that the political security, order and social safety in the border area are guaranteed, national territorial sovereignty is maintained. However, drug crime and smuggling activities are still complicated, especially the collusion between subjects across the border and domestic networks.
The methods and tricks of the subjects are increasingly sophisticated: hiring border residents to divide the goods into small pieces to carry across the border, then quickly gather and transport them by car or motorbike into the interior for consumption. During the transportation process, these subjects arrange people to closely guard to deal with the functional forces.
In addition to smuggling, the production and trade of counterfeit and poor quality goods and intellectual property violations still occur, especially in the fields of functional foods, cosmetics, medicines, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.
Strengthening inspection and handling of violations at the end of the year

People shop for goods at convenience stores in the province.
According to statistics, in the first 9 months of 2025, the functional forces of the whole province discovered 2,051 violations related to smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, a decrease of 641 cases compared to the same period in 2024, of which 317 cases of transporting and trading in smuggled goods; 2 cases of counterfeit goods; 1 case of poor quality goods and 1,731 cases of trade fraud.
The total amount of money collected for the state budget reached 763.4 billion VND, an increase of 519.2 billion VND over the same period. The authorities prosecuted 34 cases with 42 related subjects.
According to Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Huynh Van Quang Hung, it is forecasted that in the last months of the year, when consumer demand increases to serve the Lunar New Year, smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods will become more complicated.
“The Department of Industry and Trade (the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee 389) directs functional forces to grasp the situation, clearly identify goods at risk of being counterfeited and infringing intellectual property, and at the same time synchronously deploy measures to prevent, combat and strictly handle violations. The goal is to ensure market stability, not allowing counterfeit and smuggled goods to infiltrate into goods for Tet,” Mr. Huynh Van Quang Hung emphasized.
The Department has directed the Market Management Department to closely coordinate with the Police, Customs, Border Guard, and Tax to strengthen inspections, focusing on essential goods for Tet such as: garments, food, alcohol, beer, confectionery, cosmetics, modern medicine, functional foods, fertilizers, gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas as well as speculative activities, hoarding, and unreasonable price increases.
In addition, the Market Management Force continues to combine inspection work with propaganda and dissemination of laws, raising awareness of law compliance among people, traders and businesses; encouraging consumers to prioritize buying Vietnamese goods with clear origins.
Recently, on October 16, 2025, the Mobile Market Management Team coordinated with the People's Committee of Thu Thua Commune and Market Management Team No. 2 to inspect a business household in Ba Pho Hamlet, Thu Thua Commune, and discovered a warehouse containing 25,745 products of 35 types of goods such as perfume, shampoo, shower gel, skin whitening cream, dishwashing liquid, body lotion, etc. The household owner could not present invoices or documents proving the origin of the goods. Through initial verification, 11/35 types of products bear famous trademarks protected in Vietnam. The Market Management Force continues to coordinate with representatives of related brands to clarify signs of trademark counterfeiting and complete the handling records according to regulations.
At the same time, localities in the province have carried out many mobile propaganda activities in markets, shopping centers, and residential areas; distributed leaflets instructing people to identify genuine and fake goods, and advised against buying floating goods of unknown origin. Some localities have also established hotlines to receive people's feedback, thereby helping authorities promptly detect and handle violations, creating a positive social effect in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud.
Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Huynh Van Quang Hung informed: “ Tay Ninh continues to strictly implement the direction of the Government and the National Steering Committee 389, strengthen inspection of key routes and areas, promote specialized inspections on measurement, quality, food safety and e-commerce. In addition, we encourage people and businesses to detect and denounce smuggling and trade fraud, contributing to cleaning up the business environment. In the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will announce the hotline numbers of the Department Director and the Head of the Market Management Department to promptly receive and handle information related to the market.”
With the efforts and synchronous coordination of the forces, the province is determined to create positive changes in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, especially during the peak season at the end of the year and during the Lunar New Year. This is not only a task but also a common responsibility to protect consumers, maintain social trust and create a fair and transparent business environment./.
